"Terminator 4" in Go Mode Despite Looming Strike

image I’ve been loving Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Fox. Based on the Terminator movies, the TV series follows the adventures of Sarah and her son, John, in their quest to keep the robotic terminators from taking over the world.

I’m happy to report that despite the looming actor’s strike – which could happen by July – production is rolling on the latest Terminator movie, due in theaters May 22, 2009.

More after the jump…

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, directed by McG, began shooting earlier this week in New Mexico. It’s a bold move that most studios have avoided, because the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) contract expires on June 30, halting production on any movies in the midst of filming.

Talks broke down between SAG and Hollywood’s major studios on Tuesday, but union leaders are still hoping to reach a deal and avoid a walkout.

T4 follows John Connor (Christian Bale), who leads a group of survivors after Skynet destroys much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust.

Few movies were put into production after late March or early April, because the typical 60-day shooting cycle would cut too close to the presumed strike deadline.

Steven Spielberg called off an April start to a film about the trial of the 1968 anti-war activists, and Michael Bay is still hoping for an early June start for a sequel to Transformers.
