TBS Presents ‘The Tyler Perry Show’

Basic cable’s TBS has a nice treat in store for fans of House of Payne and Meet the Browns mastermind Tyler Perry.

On September 9, the network will air the hourlong special presentation The Tyler Perry Show to help the entertainment mogul spread the word about has new comedy feature flick I Can Do Bad All by Myself, which hits theaters across America on Friday, September 11. Follow the jump for more details.

Taped at Atlanta’s Tyler Perry Studios, The Tyler Perry Show features conversations with several stars of I Can Do Bad All by Myself. They include recent Academy Award nominee for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Eli Stone actress Taraji P. Henson, longtime CSI: Miami regular Adam Rodriguez, legendary Grammy winner Gladys Knight, and Grammy-winning gospel singer and pastor Marvin Winans. Knight and Winans will even perform songs from the film’s soundtrack.

I Can Do Bad All by Myself revolves around Perry’s signature character Madea, a pistol-packing grandma who catches 16-year-old Jennifer and her two younger brothers looting her home. In response, Madea decides to take matters into her own hands by delivering the young delinquents to their lone relative, a boozing nightclub singer named Aunt April (Henson).

Unfortunately, April, who mooches off of her married boyfriend Randy (The Shield and Moonlight‘s Brian White), wants nothing to do with the kids. She experiences an attitude adjustment, however, when cute Mexican immigrant Sandino (Rodriguez) moves into her basement room and challenges her to open her heart.

Catch the The Tyler Perry Show at 11pm ET, immediately after two new episodes of Meet the Browns air in the sitcom’s new 10pm time slot. The trailer for I Can Do Bad All by Myself follows below, as well.
