Syfy Schedules The Invaders Marathon

invaders-dvdThis Monday, Syfy is offering up a great blast from the past, the 1960′s Quinn Martin series The Invaders. The 11-episode marathon begins at 8:00 am on January 18 and you won’t want to miss it.

The Invaders was a series that was aimed at the more sophisticated scifi viewer. There were no rubber-suited aliens, few special effects and very little action. Instead, they went for the intense feeling of paranoia that you get from movies like Invasion of the Body Snatchers with an emphasis on story and character.

The series follows architect David Vincent (Roy Thinnes), who stumbles upon a UFO in a field off of a dark, country road. The aliens who arrive in the ship look just like us except for an odd angled pinkie finger which becomes the only way of distinguishing them from actual humans.

Throughout the course of the series, Vincent tries to alert the world, one small town at a time but as you can imagine, most people think he’s plain crazy. Except for the aliens, of course, who want him silenced.

Think of The Invaders as the scifi version of The Fugitive. The series has an amazing array of 60′s guest stars including Edward Asner, Suzanne Pleshette, Michael Rennie, Dabney Coleman, and Harold Gould, and the storytelling is always top notch.

Check out a few episodes during Monday’s marathon and if you like what you see, you can purchase both seasons of the series on DVD.

Yeah, great. No warning and on a Monday!(?)Not on a weekend or evening, but Monday…when most of us are at work or at school. Just another example of the idiocy at sci-fi channel. Horrible original movies. Wrestling!(??) And now scheduling a marathon of episodes from a series that hasn’t been aired in decades. I-D-I-O-T-S!!!

I just saw the last 30seconds of what I assume was the last episode. Great, (not) I would have done anything to have caught this again. Not happy.
