Eva Amurri’s college-student character on Californication seems to know exactly what she wants: she’s a talented writer, but plans to go into business school instead of being a starving artist. She’s got a gorgeous body, which she won’t waste on frat boys. The student/stripper instead seduces professor Hank Moody in her nine-episode arc on the naughty Showtime comedy.
Amurri, the 24-year-old daughter of actress Susan Sarandon and Italian film director Franco Amurri, recently told The New York Post that stripping is harder than it looks, but that co-star David Duchovny made her “really comfortable.”
In the Post interview, Amurri said she was attracted to the role of Jackie because she’s “a smart young woman adept with her body and her mind.” Doing the stripper-pole moves was tough, she added, because you have to lift your whole body just using the strength of your abs. “I was lucky to have a dance background,” she said.
Sarandon, shown here with Amurri during New York Fashion Week in 2007, unequivocally supported her daughter’s choice. She even went along with Amurri for some of her pole-dancing classes. Sarandon told Black Book magazine: “I think if she were playing something that was going to be really hard for her psychologically or damaging, I’d be more concerned, but she had a really good time with the sex thing.”
But Amurri’s two younger brothers weren’t pleased. She told The Post they’re “furious” that she took the part. “They don’t even want to talk to me. Hopefully, one day they’ll forgive me.”
