With this episode, we bit a fond farewell to one of my favorite TV shows, though I suspect this isn’t the last we’ll see of the crew of Atlantis.
Stargate Atlantis: Enemy at the Gate
Air Date: Friday, January 9 on SCI FI Channel
Once more (with feeling) Sheppard, McKay and the rest rush to protect the world from the Wraith only this time the world they’re protecting is Earth!
With a neat little tie-in to Vegas, Enemy at the Gate is a very serviceable final episode for the series. Those who have watched since day one will be rewarded with a few winks to the past (including a nice nod to the late General Hammond) but you’ll still be able to enjoy it if you’re a more recent convert.
My only complaint about the episode is the scope. It plays like a regular episode of the series and I was really hoping for something more grandiose. For example, I swear I saw a casting notice some months ago for extras for a Wraith attack scene in Times Square. Did I imagine that?
Because that’s the kind of thing I was hoping for in the big finale.
Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy every minute (okay, there’s one minute that I didn’t enjoy at all but I’ll grumble about that after everyone has seen it), I just would have preferred to see the characters go out on a much higher note.

it was a fair episode, not nearly as good as Vegas the week before. Some fun action, but the very ending negated the entire team feeling that took 5 years to build. Boo for that ending. ick
Okay, I was wrong. It was for Wraith to appear at the New Year’s Celebration for 2008 at NYC’s Times Square!

If I remember correctly, the casting of the Wraith for Times Square was for the NBCU/SciFi Channel Up Fronts in NYC back in May/April ’08.
