Star Trek Beams into Detroit Science Center

If you’re a Star Trek fan in the Detroit area, you’re in for a special treat. The Detroit Science Center will be hosting a launch party and special screening of the new Star Trek film at midnight on May 8.

The Detroit Science Center is the current host of Star Trek: The Exhibition, making it the only place to offer both the Exhibition and the film on the release date for the ultimate Star Trek experience. This multi-city touring exhibition contains the world’s most comprehensive collection of authentic Star Trek ships, set re-creations, costumes and props from five television series and 10 films over the last 40+ years.

“The combination of the IMAX film and Exhibition will provide an unmatched Star Trek experience for our visitors,” said Detroit Science Center Vice President of Science Programs Todd Slisher. “The viewing area on the IMAX Dome covers 5,365 square feet of the screen, making it the largest film screen in the state and the best theater environment to experience Star Trek. You’ll truly feel like you’re a part of the action.”

Detroit Science Center admission is $13.95 for adults and $12.95 for children and seniors. This includes the Detroit Science Center’s five theaters (including the STAR TREK IMAX film) and its hands-on exhibits. Combination tickets for the STAR TREK film and STAR TREK: THE EXHIBITION are $24.95 for adults and $20.95 for children and seniors. There is a $3 discount for shows starting after 5 p.m. For show times and additional information, please call 313.577.8400 or go to www.detroitsciencecenter.org.
