Southland: ‘Sally in the Alley’ Preview

Although I love the rhyming title “Sally in the Alley,” Southland‘s February 2 Season One episode, the related storyline couldn’t be more depressing.

Regina King/Southland

Sally refers to the unidentified woman found dead in a Los Angeles alley, a case that falls into the hands of gang squad partners Detectives Sammy Bryant and Nate Moretta.

If having your lifeless body dumped in a public area isn’t bad enough, how about having it used as the target in target practice held by violent gang members with nothing better to do than shoot their guns in the middle of a neighborhood?

Unfortunately, that case isn’t the worst of it for Nate. When his younger sister vanishes, the incident sets the stage for a gripping manhunt, simmering tensions come to a boil, and one heck of a family secret revealed that I can still clearly remember months after the episode first aired on NBC.

Tension also arises between partners Russell Clarke and Lydia Adams after she voices her opinion that he’s been getting a little too close to a victim’s sister during her visits to the police station.

Watch several scenes from “Sally in the Alley” in the following sneak peek.

Season One of Southland airs Tuesdays on TNT at 10pm ET.
