There’s a bit more recent news on the Southland-to-TNT front. Apparently, the network and the cop drama’s production studio Warner Bros. are currently working out the last kinks in a deal.

According to The Los Angeles Times, the agreement will have TNT buying 13 episodes: the seven that comprised the first season, which aired in April and May 2009 on NBC, and an additional six episodes already filmed for the ill-fated second season that never made it to the small screen on the show’s original home network.
Once the deal is done, Southland could make its TNT premiere as early as the first half of 2010. That’s the good news.
The not-as-good news involves one thing that Southland fans need to keep in mind: even if TNT eventually acquires those episodes, the network is going to wait to see the reception they get on basic cable before making a firm commitment for future episodes.
In other words, if Southland makes the big move and you want the series to hang around, be prepared to watch it so the ratings will be high enough to make the expense worthwhile for TNT.
