Could it really be almost time to say goodbye forever to The CW’s devil dramedy Reaper? That just might be the case now that a reputable entertainment publication has publicly stated the series is canceled.
In an April 19 online article titled “Crunch Time for Bubble Series,” the Hollywood Reporter closed its overview with one lone sentence that Sam fans have been dreading pretty much since the middle of the sophomore series’ first season:
Over at the CW, “Reaper” is gone, while the prospects for “Privileged” have improved, and the show is now considered for a possible midseason order.
The network has made no official announcements about Reaper‘s renewal prospects one way or the other, but series star Tyler Labine did hop on a starring gig for the Fox pilot Sons of Tucson a few weeks ago. And, shortly afterwards, Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michelle Fazekas jumped equally quickly at a two-year deal with production studio 20th Century Fox Television.
All of this speculation will finally end for good when The CW talks or during the TV network upfronts next month in May, whichever comes first. Still, it’s sad to witness the demise of yet another fun and funny series, even if fans have seen this writing on the wall for quite some time.
Of course, suspecting doesn’t make the reality hurt any less, though. At least the show will go out on a high note if it is indeed axed. I’ve really, really been enjoying the current season, and every single episode has provided a solid source of entertainment from beginning to end.
Reaper airs Tuesdays on The CW at 8pm EST.

While the creators leaving doesn’t look good for Reaper, you can still let the CW know you want the show to continue even without them.

Please don’t stay silent. They’ll never know how much you’d like Reaper to stay if you never tell them. Many Executive Producers are still around, and lots of shows do just fine even after a change in the guards.

Reaper got shafted by the network. It was very successful but they chose to hold the second season until March.
Tell me about it, Kwyjibo. You know something is really wrong when a poorly written and acted show like 90210 gets renewed yet the much better Reaper doesn’t. Here’s hoping the report is incorrect.
Reaper shall not be cancelled! It’s outrageous given that is has even more viewers than 90210, yet they let the latter stay!
