Sitcoms on DVD This Week: 30 Rock, Taxi

New sitcoms out on DVD today, September 22, are Season Three of NBC’s Emmy-winning 30 Rock and Season Four of the classic Emmy-winning ABC/NBC comedy Taxi.

Most of the half-hour comedies that make up NBC’s two-hour Thursday-night sitcom block launched their new seasons on September 17. 30 Rock will finally take its place in the lineup on October 15 at 9:30pm ET after winning five Emmys during the September 20 ceremony.

Taxi starred familiar comedy entertainers Jeff Conaway (Grease), Tony Danza (Who’s the Boss?), Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Marilu Henner (Evening Shade), Judd Hirsch (Num3ers), Carol Kane (Annie Hall), Andy Kaufman (Saturday Night Live), and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future). The series ran for five seasons on ABC (from 1978 to 1982) and NBC (from 1982 to 1983), leaving just one season left to be released.
