Oscar winner Bill Condon will direct the pilot episode of Showtime’s new project The C Word, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The comedy stars Laura Linney as a suburban mother whose cancer diagnosis leads her to discover the lighter side of life in spite of her life-threatening illness.
Condon, an acclaimed writer/director with a filmography that includes the hit musicals Chicago and Dreamgirls, won an Academy Award for writing Gods and Monsters.
The pilot will bring Linney and Condon back together. He directed the actress in 2004’s Kinsey, for which she earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress.
The C Word pilot is expected to begin shooting this fall.
