On the heels of Steven Spielberg’s United States of Tara, Showtime has signed on for two more dark comedy pilots from Hollywood A-listers. The shows have oddly similar titles, but tackle pretty different subjects.
George Clooney‘s Smoke House production company is working on The Fall of Bob. It’s a half-hour comedy about a guy, the aforementioned Bob, whose life flashes before his eyes when he jumps off a building. The show follows him as he tells his life story through flashbacks.
The other pilot, co-created by Matthew Perry and veteran producer Peter Tolan, stars Perry as a Rochester, NY, talk show host who swears like a sailor when he’s not on camera. The End of Steve finds Perry’s character bitter about his career arc and desperately trying to woo the station’s morning show host in an effort to find happiness.
