Seth MacFarlane gives us the dirt on the Family Guy movie, the Cleveland Show, and the Empire Strikes Back parody

This week at the Television Critics Association press junket, Seth MacFarlane gave us some spoilers on a few things. Here’s the dirt:

  • The “Empire Strikes Back” parody of “Family Guy” is finished, well, almost – it just had its first pre-screening. It will be shipped off to be animated in a few weeks or so. No air date for the Empire parody has been set yet, and there’s apparently some question about whether it might be released on DVD prior to being aired on Fox – which I don’t think will happen.
  • Crossovers between The Cleveland Show and Family Guy? Not according to Seth: ““Cleveland’s moving out of town, and there’s a whole new fresh crop of characters,” said Henry, “and we’re not going to have Peter come visit anytime soon. Cleveland’s not going to go back anytime soon. We’re really looking to establish ourselves.””
  • We can expect a “Family Guy” episode where Stewie and Brian go to Russia with Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd – of course, no word on when that will be coming our way.
  • On rivalry between Seth and Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons): “Matt and I get along very well,” MacFarlane assured us. “People want us to hate each other. We get along extremely well. He’s a wonderful guy.”
  • Mike Henry (the voice of Cleveland Brown) quipped “I don’t know if people know, but the scripts for ‘The Cleveland Show’ are just going to be ‘Good Times’ episodes.”

You can watch Seth speaking on the panel in this video.
