Season 6 premiere date set! LOST moves to Tuesdays

Several reporters have just posted this on Twitter, and only moments ago Carlton Cuse confirmed it: ABC is moving Lost to Tuesdays at 9:pm for its final season. The 2-hour season premiere is set for February 2nd at 9:pm. That’s just 75 days away, people!

Update: If ABC resists the urge to take a break in Season 6 and runs the entire season every Tuesday night without stopping, then that puts the series finale date at May 18, 2010.

Really. I thought we had heard some lame excuse that there would be an Olympics break?

What week is Spring Sweeps next year? That’s the logical finale week. Does it line up?

No word on the Olympics situation yet.

Maybe V will be on at 8. V and Lost seem like a good pairing.

V and FlashForward aren’t exactly ratings stars. Either or both cold be a faded memory by Feb 2.

David, someone’s been feeding you bad info.

V was the highest rated new show of the season, and though its numbers have dropped off a bit, it’s still a strong player. And FlashForward has been one of the most buzzed-about shows of the season as well, and its numbers have been strong enough to pick up a full season order.

Neither show has been the overnight sensation that Lost was, but that’s all but impossible nowadays for a serialized show, because the broadcast world is a very different place than it was 5 years ago, with more competition and more forms of media vying for viewers’ attention.
