Lost masterminds Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have been dropping more hints about Season 6 lately, and here’s a round-up of the juiciest bits from a new interview with The Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan. There are no spoilers here, just very mild teasers.
- The series finale will not be 2 hours as previously believed, but 3 hours, split over two weeks. Which probably means Part 1 will be 1 hour and Part 2 will be 2 hours.
- Season 6 begins at the exact moment that Season 5 left off.
- Despite an earlier comment from Lindelof himself, now both are saying they have no plans to write a “making of” book after Lost ends.
- Fans should resolve themselves now to the fact that some mysteries will not be answered. Cuse says, “There are sort of fundamental elements of mystery and magic to the show that are unexplainable, and any attempt to explain them would actually harm the show, and in our opinion, the legacy of the show. So we’re trying to find that kind of right blend of answering questions, but also leaving the things that should be mysterious, mysterious.”
- The ending is going to be open to interpretation. Both producers plan to disappear after the show ends, to avoid “having to interpret the ending.”

I wonder where they’re going to “disappear” to…the island?

Hmmm…that sounds like we are not going to get a satisfying ending…?
