SciFi’s Mini-Series, “Tin Man” Sets Ratings Records

tin-man-promo-01b.jpgZooey Deschanel, Emily Deschanel’s equally talented sister stars in the SciFi channel’s latest mini-series called Tin Man. Here’s an excerpt from the announcement that was just released about the ratings records the series has been breaking:

Tin Man’s Night 1 performance made it the Channel’s most-watched telecast ever in overall viewership (P2+), as well as in both of its key demos, P25-54 and P18-49. The wizardly delivery has bested all of SCI FI’s previous miniseries, including the Emmy-winning Steven Spielberg Presents TAKEN.

  • Best ever performance on SCI FI in P2+ (beating TAKEN Part 1′s 6.1 million)
  • Best ever performance on SCI FI in P25-54 (beating TAKEN Part 1′s 3.7 million)
  • Best ever performance on SCI FI in P18-49 (beating Frank Herbert’s Dune Part 1′s 3.3 million)
  • Best ever performance on SCI FI in HHs (beating TAKEN Part 1′s 3.91 million)

Night 2 of this three-part, six-hour saga airs tonight on SCI FI at 9pm ET.

Produced by RHI, Tin Man is a deliciously twisted take on L. Frank Baum’s children’s literary classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and stars Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, Neal McDonough, Kathleen Robertson, Raoul Trujillo and Richard Dreyfuss.

I loved how Tin Man wasn’t blunt in saying which character was missing this or that like the original movie was. It let me make inferences about the characters. I also loved how the characters had background stories and how it wasn’t exactly like The Wizard Of Oz movie. I do hope that Tin Man comes out on DVD because I want to watch it over and over and over again. I LOVE YOU TIN MAN!! ((seriously, he was kinda hot…))

I thought it was great. Very different take on the OZ story. And I love how it is so self-referential – a very SciFi trait.

I loved the ‘Wicked’ take on Oz, but this one was very amusing as well. The present day twist was great.

I’m actually kind of disappointed in it…it’s not as good as I thought it would be. They need to give more for Zooey to do.
