SCI FI Hears a Who

Doctor_Who_tardis Doctor Who returns to SCI FI Channel tonight with a 90-minute fourth season premiere that’s packed with fun, surprises and Kylie Minogue

When we last left the Doctor, he finding his footing after the TARDIS collided with the Titanic.  But this is Doctor Who after all, so the Titanic isn’t just the Titanic and there are killer robots and more plots to take over the world, because it is Christmas Day and that always signals an alien invasion.  It does in the world of “Who.”

So, we Americans are getting the episode four months late.  Better than never, I tell you.  Or is it?  Things have changed this year.  Martha’s gone (off to visit Torchwood remember) and rumor has it that the episode doesn’t live up to the hype.  Then again, “Doctor Who,” like Law & Order, has always been one of those shows that weathers the storm of cast changes with little effort.  Let’s see if that’s true this time around.

Watch the premiere of Doctor Who: Season Four at 8:30, right after “The Sarah Jane Adventures” on SCI FI Channel.

Yeah, that one was kind of uneven. It got better toward the end and Tennant is always great but overall, meh.

This was the same thing they did last year where they had a temporary companion for just the Christmas ep (The Runaway Bride) Ironically, it is she, Catherine Tate who will come back to be the companion for this season.

I thought Kylie Minogue was going to be the Doctor’s new companion… Well, unless he goes back in time to get her, I suppose not. Was this not the Series 4 premier? Or has there ever been a time when the Doctor didn’t have a companion?
