that would be the one! well, i don't think there's any way to get around the controversy some filmmakers experience by putting things like rape and torture in their films. i think it all depends on how that director handles it, etc. but there have been films that used rape which have left viewers feeling empowered. for instance, i have spoken with several women who feel I Spit on Your Grave did just that. i'm curious to see how Bousman will handle the film considering his background with Saw. also Andre, you tried to post your blog link but it didn't work so i'll post it here: http://horrordigest.blogspot.com

Just to clarify this is the Mother's Day where the old lady demands her two hillbilly backwoods sons rape and murder girls right? That being said and having just recently watched and reviewed that movie- I completely agree that doing an exact remake of that movie would not work these days.

People are so uppity about rape- well rightly so- but honestly if someone puts even a hint of rape in their movies they are immediately put on the chopping block and basically referred to as satan. If those people saw Cannibal Holocaust or Last House on the Left they probably wouldn't be so shocked to see it in movies today. And I will stand by the fact that you have not witnessed a rape in a movie until you see a woman get raped by a pointy rock. *shudder*

Mother's Day was hilarious and the revenge sequence at the end was amazing.
I am eager to learn more about this "remake" However, I do hope they keep in that little gem of a scene where the girl suffocates the old woman with a giant pair of inflatable boobs. Genius.
