Sarah Wayne Callies chats briefly about Prison Break, her role as Sara Tancredi, and being back at work on the show!
“It’s definitely odd from a performance standpoint,” Sarah says to theTVaddict.com. “Psychologically, my relationship to ‘Sara’ was over. But I’d never come back to a character I put away and resuscitating Sara was a very new and exciting process for me. In a way I consider it great practice because there’s a history in theatre of returning to the same character and bringing something new to the role.”
That said, being back at work is great. Sarah says that it’s a really good group of people to work with. And as for the recent media circut, she says that those are a performance unto themselves. “I’m performing the role of Sarah Wayne Callies. And this public performance isn’t the person that I am, but rather the person that I feel is appropriate to share with the public.”
Sarah chats briefly about Prison Break Season 4, saying that it’s their own spin off! “We’re our own spin-off this season which is so exciting. I mean I just got the outline for episode eight and it’s really interesting the kinds of things I’m able to explore this season that Sara’s never gotten near before. I think it would be difficult to be on a show that season after season is a version of the same thing. It would be hard to stay creatively excited about something like that.”
Sarah is glad that her character keeps changing. “Sara changes a lot. She’s also very deeply flawed which is much more interesting than playing a saint. Sara’s choices, especially this season, keep surprising both her and me. So far it’s very interesting.”
As for her career in acting, Sarah also says that it wasn’t her first professional goal. She wanted to be a professor!! So how did she get off that track and into acting? “In my senior year of College I did a huge research project that was sort of a prelude to a Ph.D. But after ten weeks of being locked in the little library researching for six months, I thought, this was way too lonely.”

When I talked to Prison Break producer Zack Estrin, he told me, “We do learn a little bit this season why Michael Scofield is so smart. This is not sci-fi, but there is something that is unique about his childhood that leads to why he has the ability to do some of things he can do.” OK, I’m convinced he was part of Project Christmas from Alias, but since that’s not right-any theories? Maybe he just really loved puzzles?

Interesting. And choosing a field that is in no way related to one another. Sara did good with herself either way.

I love this woman, she is so kind. I wait her return very much. I think the show will better because she is back. :-)
