Robbie Williams Rejoining Take That After New Album?

The fans want it, Robbie Williams wants it, but we’re not sure whether Take That want it. What do we want? Take That to reform properly as a five-piece of course. Sure, they’re Back For Good, and sure, they’re doing rather well without Robbie, but it would still be nice to see it happen. Wouldn’t it?

There were rumors concerning Robbie returning to take That even before Take That decided to make a comeback without him. And these rumors have persisted ever since, with a definite thawing in the relationship between Robbie and his former bandmates.

Williams was a guest on the Chris Moyles show on Radio 1 this morning (Sept. 4) to unveil his new single, Bodies, and to reveal the tracklisting for his new album, Reality Killed The Video Star. But his solo stuff was somewhat overshadowed by talk of a reunion with Take That.

Williams made his feelings clear by telling Moyles:

“I’m excited about it, though – maybe doing something with the lads. I was with Gary a few weeks ago and we watched the whole show at mine and I just thought it’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It was an absolutely amazing show. Loved it. It made me want to be with them – in the band. It’s a bit like: ‘How do they top this? Hang on, how do I top that?’”

“The perception has been that the lads have done really well – ‘What’s the other fella doing? I’ll bet he’s dying looking at these lot’. I thought I’d actually like to go and do something and the perception was such that it was like: ‘Oh look, he’s had to get up with these now, now that Rudebox has failed.’ I thought I’d just wait off a little bit and get my album out and then I can go and play with my mates.”

The implication is clear: Williams will for now focus on releasing his new album, due out on November 9. But then he’d clearly like to at least collaborate with Take That, if not rejoin them on a permanent basis.

How Gary Barlow and the rest of the lads feel about this latest twist to the story isn’t yet clear. But it was only in April of this year that Barlow made it clear that Robbie wasn’t actually welcome back in the group. So I think negotiations are needed in order to make it happen.
