Let’s take a break from Aerosmith for a bit and talk about Shinedown’s new release Sound Of Madness. In the world of modern rock these days it’s not easy to stay relevent to the times and be succesful. Let’s face it, there are only a handful of mainstream rock bands that are carrying the torch these days. With the release of Sound Of Madness, Shinedown prove that they are one of them. I’m going to keep this review farely short by simpley saying that Sound Of Madness has a lot of great hard rock songs on it such as the opening track, Devour, and Sound Of Madness and still prove that they can write some really nice slower tunes such as The Crow And The Butterfly, What A Shame and Call me. If you liked Shinedown’s previous records then you will like Sound Of Madness. The biggest problem in Modern Rock these days is the consistency of bands writing their albums and making it a good record from beginning to end. Shinedown does this with Sound Of Madness and it doesn’t leave you feeling disappointed and ripped off like a lot of rock cd’s do these days. Shinedown’s Sound Of Madness gets a fat hammer-smashed thumbs up.
