The other night Mr. Holland’s Opus, one of my favorite movies was on TV. I remember watching back in High School thinking I was like the character Rowena (played by Jean Louisa Kelly) because of my HUGE crush on my choir teacher. Yes, I’ve outed myself now, I was a choir and band nerd in High School! Anyway, my teacher, Greg Quan was SO inspiring just like Mr. Holland was in this movie.
Another reason to see this movie is the fact that it’s stocked full of amazing actors and actresses such as Richard Dreyfuss, William H. Macy, and a very young Terrence Howard.
If you’ve ever felt a teacher changed your life, this movie will touch you and leave you bawling at the end. My favorite part is when Mr. Holland sings to his son. It gets me every time even though I’ve seen this movie a dozen times. Go rent it or buy it because it’s the type of movie everyone should see!
