Candlebox‘s newest release Into The Sun has been out for almost a week now. I’ve been trying to give it a good hard listen all the way through but with work and working on three blogs to include this one, it’s been kind of difficult. I have listened to it all the way through but with great distractions. Now what I can tell you is that this is no one-off comeback for Candlebox, thrown together with dollar signs in mind. This is going to be a bare-boned, basic review so kind of bare with me…
The first single off of Into The Sun, Stand brings us back to the Candlebox we came to love back with the self titled debut. If you’ve heard it on the radio you would immediately know that it was Candlebox because of their signature sound and Kevin Martin’s unmistakable voice. Kevin also reminds us how much he likes the word “Fuck”.
Surrendering and Underneath it all bring us back to that softer side of Candlebox. The lyrical content in Surrendering reads with such lines as “Could someone please give me something to hold / Something to numb why I’m felling alone / Beginning to think that the older we get / The more we think, the less we know“
To basically break this record down, it’s a good, solid rock album with a good mix of rock songs and rock ballads in the way that Candlebox does it best. If you’ve been a Candlebox fan in the past and your hesitant in buying Into The Sun, don’t be. Into The Sun is a well arranged and mixed Rock And Roll album that was put together with a lot of heart. Kevin Martin’s vocals sound amazing, Peter Klett’s guitar work hasn’t missed a beat and has if anything improved over the last 10 years. Don’t hesitate to check out Into The Sun. If you weren’t already a Candlebox fan, you just might become one.

I’ve listened to it myself 3 or 4 times and being a Candlebox fan to begin with makes it easier to like. It has grown on me already. Kevin Martin has a great voice and I do agree with you about Peter Klett’s work, he rocks. Into The Sun is different Candlebox but the same, and, it’s just good! “A Kiss Before Dying” seems to be my favorite track right now, and “Miss You” I recommend it to any Candlebox fan out there.
