Stephen King is getting more annoying by the minute. He recently slammed Stephenie Meyer and called her a no-talent loser.

Ok, he wasn’t quite that harsh, but really, you shouldn’t slam someone who has such a huge fan base as Stephenie Meyer and her "Twilight" series. I’d call that pretty darn successful, Stephen!

He said: "Both [J.K.] Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people … The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good."

I’m not liking Stephen King very much at the moment.

What about you? Does this bug the heck out of you?!

King is right. Meyer can’t write worth a damn. She fails at creating any sort of atmosphere and her characters are one dimensional and vapid. All it reminds me of is a kid from jr high writing a vampire fanfic to escape their boredom of the classroom.

    Listen to the Twilighttards BAWWWWW

He doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone, he’s the King, you know?

Every book that he have written was based to a movie, I don’t need to write all the names, need I?? I don’t think so.

He isn’t judging her, he’s just saying that she’s not a good writer.

And between JK Rowling – Stephenie Meyer – Stephen King, I prefer The King. I sure am.

I agree with Stephen King. To be honest, Meyer’s writing reminds me of love stories my friends and I used to write back in 8th grade. You know, finding the “perfect” lover, bad grammar, etc. Stephen King and Ayn Rand are my favourite authors.

“He’s just angry because teenagers aren’t lining up by the thousands to buy his books… Bummer, Steven”

No, they’ve already done that, you know, considering he’s sold over 300 MILLION books in his career.

Harry Potter = Great? LOL. All books end is deus-ex-machina(great? When she can’t think of a good ending. She makes up with something out of the blue! If Avatar: The Las Airbender were a novel than a TV series, it would kick HP ass). But then SK woun’t see it because he has awful endings. I wouldn’t even call it cliff hanger. Just read From the Buick 8. it such as waste of time!

How did you know that spell? I read it in the book! But then, we didn’t read anything about him/her reading the book where she learned the magic spell! Deus ex machina

I definitely agree with Stephen King. Twilight is boring.

I agree with him completely, Meyer’s nothing compaired to either Rowling or King.

“…but really, you shouldn’t slam someone who has such a huge fan base as Stephenie Meyer and her “Twilight” series. I’d call that pretty darn successful, Stephen! ”

Two things wrong with this statement. Firstly, a huge fan base does is not make anyone infallible, as you are suggesting. Hitler had a huge fan base and look what happened to him.

Secondly- on the flip side, if you want to compare fan bases, look at it this way: Stephanie Meyer has sold 70 millon books worldwide. Stephen King has sold over 350 million books worldwide and has won numerous awards.

As well, Stephen King’s books are diverse and deep, with intertwining plotlines and questions probing into human nature. Meyer’s books involve poorly developed characters who have no personalities, thus allowing every pre-pubescent girl on the planet to impose their own personalities onto them. None of Meyer’s characters are deep- they are predictable, cliche, and boring (the reason why Edward can’t read Bella’s mind is because she doesn’t have one!). The books are anti-feminist, and a product of Meyer’s Mormom pipe dreams.

    Stephen King = EPIC WIN.

Yeah, people… Stephen King is a million times better then Stephenie Meyer.
I have read all the Twilight books. They’re okay, something to read if you don’t feel like thinking. Stephen King’s books are captivating and intelligent. Don’t be hating him just because you can’t understand his books. Just get a little smarter… Stupid fantards

    Long days and pleasant nights.

Oh My God! Thankfully someone agrees with me! I may be only 14 but even I can see how crap Twilight is! It’s full of fake crap about nothing. Honestly even I can write better then Stephenie Meyer.
Yes i’ve tried to read twilight and I could feel a part of my brain dying. Not all America books are that crap, but Twilight doesn’t maker America look like a very smart place

    Oh shut up,

    Stephen King has a point.

The horrible spelling and grammer mistakes committed by Meyer fans should be a clue as to the quality of her writing and her audience…

It is silly to compare Stephen King and Meyer…The former is a King of Horror, an icon in literature and probably sold ten times more than Meyer….And his movies are not so successful as Meyer’s? Don’t make me laugh: Stanley Kubric, George Romero, Brian Holmes, Frank Darabont…should I continue? Can you imagine Stanley Kubric gets interested in a Meyer book? I think instead he would shoot himself with one eye shut…What about Shawshank Redemption currently sitting at the top of that movie industry website ahead of the Godfather? Do you know Spielberg is currently shooting Talisman…

As to the quality of writing; does Meyer deserve this kind of discussion? Even the time spent for talking about her non-existen writing skills is ridiculous.

Two years on and Meyer will be into oblivion as the sillyhead teenage girls of this generation grow up and move sillier fantasies and illegaly get pregnant. Who remembers Barbara Cartland now? She sold more than one billion books. Who gives a damn about Danielle Steel? She sold more than five hundred million books? No respect, no credibility…That’s the fate that beckons Meyer, unfortunately.

    @Aoife – totally signed!

Furthermore the mere commercial success of a given piece of fiction does not mean that it is well written.

I’m so glad Stephen King got up and said this out loud. And the Twilight fans on this page are really pathetic. Can you please stop saying Stephen King is stupid and doesn’t know anything about books? He’s not the only one who has expressed a dislike towards the series. There are so many twilight haters and it’s quite easy to find out the reasons why. That just proves that there’s reasoning to back what Stephen King was saying.
But the stupidest thing I’ve heard is that he doesn’t have a right to judge Meyer’s book. Firstly, that’s very hypocritical. By expressing your love for Twilight and your hatred for Harry Potter (I haven’t seen a reason for how Harry Potter is bad yet btw) aren’t you judging books yourselves? Anyone who can read has a right to judge a book. And Stephen King is a popular author. He reads and writes for a living. He would know many books and could compare Twilight to many books. If anyone has the right to judge it, he does. Twilighters, Twilight is a stupid book and its been repeated all over. Just get over it and stop insulting others without anything to back you. That’s how Twi-hards got their reputation as stupid and annoying fangirls.

Stephen King is right. Stephenie Meyer can’t write to save herself. She’s just a sheltered Mormon housewife who got bored and started writing her bizarre romantic fantasies down on paper with a thin version of herself as the main character. It’s pathetic. In fact, the word pathetic is almost not strong enough to describe how ridiculously sad she is.

ok ppl let’s get serious now!
yea ok we like twilight and the rest of the books, i like them as well, but when it comes to stephen king, well you cant just judge him like he is a random guy at the street answering a survey question!
he’s got a lot of experience in the writing area, and he spots errors in twilight we cant see…so yea, i shall agree that meyer is not the best writter ever, she is probably nothing compered to stephen king, but still she has managed to make her books best-sellers, so that’s gotta be an accomplishment or so!
