Reader Developed Plot and Storyline

Awhile back I had encouraged our readers to write-up their own storyline and screenplay for an episode of their favorite CSI show. We didn’t get very many entries, so the people that did enter won. (If you haven’t received your prize yet, e-mail me with your address)

Here’s the plotline by one reader who I believe did the best work of going into the full details and planning out the entire episode.

Episode entitled:

Buried under grandfathers guilt

New Characters of the episode:
Emma Parker- She is a child prodigy turned CSI in San Francisco.  She
Graduated high school when she was 12, college when she was 15 and
Started to work under father, a legendary CSI named Cy Parker.

Plot:
Cy Parker, a legendary CSI and billionaire, whom has been  retired and
lives in Las Vegas, is shot down dead in his house– which brings Emma
back to the city that she ran so far away from. (Emma started out living in Las Vegas working with her father straight out of college.  Being so young, her father tried so hard to keep her from falling in love because he knew what love did to him  that he
didn’t see this one coming.  Emma fell in love with another CSI– Nick Stokes.  They dated for a while until one day she just upped and disappeared.  No one knew why she left or even where she went.  Which forced everyone to think that she was just a hoax or a myth.  Until she returned the day after her father died.)

Captain Brass was a dear friend of Cy Parker and he knew how to contact Emma if there was a dire need to.  So Brass called Emma and told her that she needs to come home that there was a terrible accident. Meanwhile since this was going to be such a high profiled case, the sheriff wanted all of the CSIs to be on this case.  The sheriff also announced that leading the case would be none other than the legendary Emma Parker herself.

Greg and Warrick both said that they thought that she was just a myth. (Walking up from behind them Emma said)”Do I look like a myth?”

Nick:  ”It’s been way to long Em.”
Emma:  ”Like wise”.
(Greg sat there just staring at Emma with his jaw dropping to the
floor.)
Emma:  ”You can put your eyes back in your head- Greg i presume…
Captain Brass has kept me up to speed and has told me everything there
is to know about each of you, so there would be no need for any
introductions I think that i have figured out who each of you are.”
Greg:  ”How is that?”
Emma:  ”Well Lets see…I already know Nick.  Brass describe you-Greg-
as the rock and roll kid.  So I presumed that would be you.  He
described Warrick as the brute strength.  And well by process of
elimination that would make that Catherine since she is the only
female.  And that would make the bug guy–you–Grissom.  I don’t mean
to
offend anyone.  I just want to find who did this to my father. “
Catherine:  ”When was the last time that you talked to your father
Emma?”
Emma:  ”Well in all honesty, I haven’t spoke to my father since he sent
me away five years ago.  He said that he didn’t want me to turnout like
my mother.”
Catherine:  ”Your Mother…?”
Nick:  ”Her mother was buried alive the day after Emma was born by a
serial murderer–a case that her father had been working for most all
of his career.”
Greg:  ”How do you know so much…?”
Warrick (whispers): “They used to date along time ago.”
Greg (Whispers):  ”Oh so that means asking her out on a date is out of
the question”?
Warrick:  ”no… I don’t think so.  She hasn’t spoke to Nick in almost
5 years.  So I am guessing that he won’t mind.”
Emma:  ”Well enough small talk who wants to bring me up to speed…”
Gil:  ”We have dusted the scene for prints and Wendy is running them
against the prints from your mother’s murder case”.
Grissom gets a phone call.
 Brass:  ”Was it Wendy?”
Gil:  ”Yea, the prints are a match to her mother’s murder case”.
Brass:  ”Emma, i am putting you under lock and key until we catch that
guy who did this.”
Emma:  ”No offense Jim but if my father couldn’t catch him i doubt that
you are going to be able to catch him without me.”
Brass:  ”fine then I am still putting a detail on you 24/7 until we
find him.”
Greg speaks up.
Greg:  ”How about me and Warrick keep an eye on her while we work on
the case?”
Brass:  ”Not a bad idea.  You and Warrick can keep an eye on her while
you help her work on this case”.
Gil gives everyone their assignments.
“Catherine and Nick you guys are going to finish processing the scene.
Emma, you take Warrick and Greg and go through your father’s notes
from the case and see what you can come up with.”
Brass pulls Greg and Warrick to the side.  ”Don’t you two let her out
of your sight.”
Greg:  ”Got it Capt…”  You can trust that me eyes will always be on
her. (He gives Brass a love sick puppy grin.)
Nick pulls Emma off to the side.
Nick:  “So how have you been?”
Emma:  “Terrified.  My father told me that I had to leave because he
was afraid that this guy was after me.  (She tears up).  I guess he was
right.  By the way, I am sorry that I didn’t get to say good bye. I
really wanted to but my father told me it was for the best.  Did you
get the letter I sent you?”
Nick:  “Yes.  I keep it in a safe place.  I was hoping that some day I
would see you again.”
Off in the distance standing outside of Cy’s house, Brass and Gil are
talking about Emma.
Brass:  “That poor girl has been terrified her hole life that she was
going to end up like her mother…buried alive.  When she was little, her
father told me she had nightmare of it”.
Gil:  ‘Do you think that this guy has been after Emma the whole time?”
Brass:  After looking at how he left her father’s house…Yes I do think
so.”
Gil :  “Then we need to figure out why he killed her mother to figure
out why he wants to kill Emma”.
Back at the Lab, Greg helps Emma settle in.
Greg:  “So….”
Emma:  “Whatever it is that you want to know just ask?”
Greg:  “Ok.  Did you really graduate high school when you were 12?”
Emma:  “Yea, valedictorian, but that isn’t what you were gonna ask me
now was it?”
Greg:  “No but I am not sure if it is appropriate to be asking someone
I just met this question without offending you?”  Do you believe in
love at first sight?”
Emma (she smiles at greg): “why do you ask?”
Greg:  Was it love at first sight for you and Nick?
Emma:  “I do believe in love at first sight and no it wasn’t like that
for Nick”.
Greg ( He stares into Emma’s eyes):  Are you still in love with him?
Emma:  “No I don’t think of Nick like that anymore.”(Greg blushes)  Why
is it that you ask?
Greg:  “No reason”.
Greg starts to walk out of the room and Emma stops him.
Emma: “So Greg, Do you?”
Greg blushes and nods his head yes and walks away.
Catherine walks by as Emma was walking out of the locker room.
Emma:  Hey Catherine, can I ask you a question?
Catherine:  Sure.
Emma:   What is Greg’s story?
Catherine: why?
Emma:  He is really cute and very overtly trying to hit on me.
Catherine:  I have never seen him so in ahh since you walked up at the
crime seen.  If I didn’t know any better I would say that he has a
crush on you.
Emma:   Right…sure…o…k…I don’t think you can really have a crush on a
person that you just met.  Any how did you guys find anything odd at
the crime scene?
Catherine:  You might want to talk to Gil and Brass.
Emma turns toward Grissom’s office and she sees Brass and Gil talking.
They immediately stop taking when she enters the room.
Emma:  Wow its like high school all over again.  I walk into a room and
all the talking about me stops.  Why wont Catherine tell me what they
found?
Brass:  Em, sit down.
Emma says sternly:  No I prefer to stand.
Gil :  Ok.
Greg walks up and over hears Gil talking to Emma and listens.
Gil:  Emma we found some very interesting things at the crime scene
that I think indicates that the person that killed your father wasn’t
after him.
Emma:  what are you saying Gil?
Gil:  Listen to this.
Emma:  What is it?
Gil:  This is a recording of the accounts of the night.  Why would your
father have a recorder at his desk?
Emma:  Besides the fact that he liked to listen to his own voice.  He
had sloppy hand writing so he recorded his notes instead of writing
them down.
Gil:  Well when the killer entered the room the recorder was still on…
Are you sure you want to listen to this?
Emma tearing up says: Yes I think that I need to hear this.
Greg creeps into the room  and so does Catherine.  As the tape plays
Emma begins to tear up a little more and as Greg is standing there
beside her, he reaches down and holds her hand as the tape continues to
play.
The tape recording:
The door slams open.
Cy:  who are you?
KILLER: Where is she?
Cy: Who?
KILLER:  Oh you know who I am talking about you son of a bitch…I can
seem to find her since you sent her away from me…You know your gorgeous
daughter…oh what was her name…right …..(He yells) EMMA!
(A gun cocks…)
Cy:  You’ll never find her.
KILLER:  Oh…I will and when I do I am going to torture her like I did
you wife since you took the only person in the world away from me that
meant anything to me I am going to take her….
Cy:  Who are you?
KILLER :  your worst nightmare.
(A round of gun shots go off.  The tape stops.)
Gil:  Emma I know that was difficult but do you have any idea who that
was?
Holding on to Greg’s hand very tightly.
Emma says:  Yea I do. (They all turn and look at her).
Brass:  Is it…
Emma:  It is the man that stalked me throughout my whole life.  My
mother was probably just as famous as my father and maybe even a little
more.  Have you guys heard of the Brutelli Family?  My mother was the
daughter of a very famous mobster- Vinnie Brutelli.  He had many
enemies especially a man by the name of Bradford Helms.  My father was
out on a case when he met Bradford ,his son Harry and  his dead  wife,
Magdalene and at that time he had no idea who he was and what
affiliation that he had with my mother’s father until my grandfather
asked my father to destroy the chain of evidence and make so they
couldn’t  find out who killed Bradford’s Wife.  Everyone knew that my
Grandfather did it but they couldn’t do anything since the chain of
custody was broken when my Father was handling the evidence.  Bradford
and his son said that they would exact their revenge on my
grandfather.  And they did when they buried my mother alive in the
desert and said that they would destroy everything good in my
grandfather’s life until the day that he died.  The day my mother gave
birth was the happiest moment in my grandfather’s life and the next day
police found my mother buried in the Nevada desert.  The reason I know
that it was him because my father found a partial print from Bradford
and harry on the box that they buried her in but it was nothing
concrete enough to convict because they seemed to have pretty good
alibis.  My father knew that he had to keep me safe but what he didn’t
know was that his genes would put me in the public eyes from the time
that I was 2 months old.  My whole life was a spectacle.  Newspaper
articles and everything under the sun, but when I graduated high school
they made a really big deal about it—a whole newspaper article and
everything.  From that everything I did made it into the newspaper.  I
knew that my father worried about me but I didn’t know the whole story
until I met my Grand father for the first time at my college
graduation.  That was the first day that my father had seen Bradford
and his son.  They saw the two of them in the crowd off of the tape
that my school had made of my graduation.
Brass:  I thought your father caught the guy.
Emma:  he only told me that so I wouldn’t live in fear my whole life,
but he was never really a good liar. One day I was watching the tape
with a couple friends of mine and my father waked in.  I knew something
was not right and   I knew that he wasn’t dead.  And that was when my
father sent me on the run.  He told me not to contact anyone just to
get up and run.  But you know me Brass…when was the last time that I
listened to my father.  I kept tabs on my dad since the day that I left.
Gil:  So we are looking for Bradford and Harry Helms?
Emma; You won’t find them…
Gil:  Why?
Emma:  Because my dad didn’t until the day he died.  There is no use.
Now they know that I in town that I wouldn’t miss my father’s funeral.
Brass:  You may have to Emma.
Emma:  You have got to be kidding me.
Brass:  It is for your own good.
Emma:  I am sorry Jim but if you think that you guys are going to keep
me from the only person in my life that understood me and not let me
say good bye you have another thing coming.
Emma gets up out of the chair and storms out of the room and into the
hallway only to break down in tears. Greg goes out after her and scoops
her up and tells her that he isn’t going to let anything happen to
her.  And they both go outside to get some fresh air.  Greg gives her a
tissue.
Emma:  Thanks.
Greg:  You know that Brass and Grissom are just trying to keep you safe.
Emma:  Do you know what it feels like to know how you’re going to die?
Greg:  You’re not going to die.
Emma: If my father couldn’t figure out how to stop them I don’t think
that anyone else is.
A black van drives up slowly…four men get out of the car with guns.
One man shoots Emma with a dart and she falls to the ground and the
other goes out to pick her up.  The two others shot at Greg…One misses
but the other one hits greg.  They scoop the two of them up in the van
and drive away…
As the tires screech away Grissom, Nick, Warrick, and Brass run out
side and see that Emma and Greg are gone…..
(left on the ground are Emma’s tissue, her cell phone, greg’s cell
phone and some blood)

The next image on the screen is Emma unconscious and Emma unconscious
in a box in the ground.
Greg walks up to see Emma bleeding next to him…and seemingly no way
out.
