It’s almost time to say goodbye to the ensemble Steven Bochco legal drama Raising the Bar.

Although the sophomore original series will return this winter with three fresh episodes, TNT has already decided not to renew the entertaining yet earnest show for a third season.
As a result of that decision, which was announced on the last day of November, Raising the Bar will call it quits with the 15th episode of the current second season.
The culprit for the show’s demise is the all-important ratings game. According to TNT, Raising the Bar’s Nielsen performance during its summer run just wasn’t up to par, and the unmet expectations made a third season impractical.
Explains the network in a prepared statement: “Everyone at TNT had a great experience working on ‘Raising the Bar’ with Steven Bochco and the rest of the show’s terrific cast and crew. We’re proud of the series and appreciate the efforts of all of the creative people who were involved. Unfortunately, ratings for ‘Raising the Bar’s’ second season did not reach the levels required for TNT to renew the series.”
This is a major bummer for the many viewers who enjoyed the drama, including me. Fingers crossed that newcomer Dark Blue, the only TNT original still waiting to learn its fate, gets lucky with a renewal.
Raising the Bar will return this winter on a currently undetermined date.
