Rage Against The Machine For Christmas Number One!

As much as I love The X Factor, and I really do, it’s really only entertaining when it’s on; once it’s over and done with I rarely give a crap about the winners and losers. In fact, even the winners are often losers (Steve Brookstein, Leon Jackson).

However, The X Factor dominates the charts in the run up to Christmas, with the eventual winner usually bagging the coveted Christmas number one single. But maybe this year will be different.

Rage Against The Machine Killing In The Name

Last year saw Alexandra Burke release Hallelujah for Christmas, and she got to number one with it. However, using Facebook to organize the effort, people tried to get both the Leonard Cohen and the essential Jeff Buckley cover to the top spot. They failed.

This year, even before the single being released by the winner is officially announced (it’s rumored to be a cover of Miley Cyrus’ The Climb), there is a similar campaign. And it’s centered around a Facebook group titled ‘RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR CHRISTMAS NO.1‘.

That’s correct – RATM! There’s a concerted effort to get Killing In The Name to number one for Christmas and sticking one to Simon Cowell and his manufactured moneymaking factory at the same time. Which is certainly an endeavor I can get behind.

Fans of decent music are being asked to purchase a digital copy of Killing In The Name Sunday, Dec. 13 and Saturday Dec. 19. I’ll be doing so and I hope you will too, whoever ends up victorious on The X Factor.

I’m a member and I will definitely buy it, maybe twice. If it works it will be worth it. The music business has always been about making money and everyone in the group understands the Sony link. This is about smug karaoke Cowell and co fixing the charts and the minds of our children so that we will never understand that real music can be succesful and commercial.

Fast approaching the 700,000 member mark!
Some ‘critics’ are missing the point when they blab on about RATM being on the Sony label as well. It’s nothing to do with that. It’s about saying NO to another X Factor kareoke single as Christmas number 1!!
And by jove we may bloody do this!

What a GREAT idea! I will be purchasing one. The only thing more I could wish for is Miley Cirus and the Jonas Bros at the bottom of the ocean, …along with all of their crappy CD’s.
