Prison Break – What’s Going On and Why?

Sona burns to the ground in some riot and T-Bag, Bellick and Sucre are unaccounted for ( read heading back to States to find their family or seek revenge in T-Bag’s case) T-Bag slept and left the house of Lechero’s hooker nun from Season 3.  At least someone is getting some right? Eww
 
Michael after reciting what is a suicide note goes after Gretchen and Whistler who are at some swanky LA party to retrieve this funny looking black card called Syclla. Michael does what he usually does dons a disguise, hides some clothes, retrieves disguise and enters party like he belongs.  Takes some champagne ( which let’s face it he probably won’t really drink) and follows Whistler who has successfully shot and killed 2 company men all while faking a horrible American accent. (But still manages to look good) He corners him and before he can get a word in edgewise Michael pulls a gun.  Gretchen walks in and Michael is pretty angry in fact he is REALLY angry (which is kinda hot) and starts talking about Sara wouldn’t have wanted him to kill Gretchen but he will.  This is the now infamous line where Gretchen ( after blaming Whistler for not telling him) says that Sara isn’t dead, she fabricated the whole thing and then tries to blame Linc for not paying closer attention to the bloodied dismembered head in the box.   Whistler pulls gun on Michael they all stand around with guns drawn one each other.  Finally Michael says truce and they all go outside now as  Whistler and Gretchen need to escape.  Of course what I haven’t mentioned is Whistler seems to be in some double cross as he copies the card he was given and gives it to someone else.  I also forgot to mention he is now back to Australian accent (Thank God)
 
Mahone uses EurupeanGoldfinch.net to send a mysterious note under Sucre’s name telling him to meet him under the pier in Santa Monica. (which if you have ever been to Santa Monica pier isn’t anywhere you want to be hanging out under. Mahone tells him that he and Whistler are actually working against the company to which Michale basically says he doesn’t give a F***, his concern is Sara so pony up whatever info you have.. Mahone tells him Whistler has it ( of course) so they go meet Whistler in some Alley in L.A ( which if you have been to an LA alley, isnt somewhere you want to be hanging out)  WHistler begins to tell Michael about Syclla and then Sara and before he can finish he is shot in the head. (I told you Alleys are bad) So Michael and Mahone do what they usually do (run like hell and evade the people sent to kill them)  
 
Michael goes to Chicago and calls Bruce Bennett ( Governor Tancredi’s old aid) and before he has a chance to get a real answer from him on whether Sara is dead or alive the police apprehend Michael on the street using a call box ( they still have those, seems they are only used by people making top secret calls, or people who need information or people who receive strange calls on them when they walk by)
 
Linc his new girlfriend Sophia ( which is just weird to me but hey) and LJ are eating lunch shopping for plantains ( um sure they kinda look like bananas but aren’t)   He sees someone spying on them gets uber paranoid only to run all 3 of them into some back area and run into said spying guy.  Fight ensues, gun is drawn guy is dead.  Linc is back in handcuffs something we are VERY familiar with from Season 1.
 
So now Michael is being approached by this guy Agent Don Self (who looks a lot like my old manager but isn’t) and he basically tells them this.  If you and your brother want to stay out of Prison, ( Michael would get 15 and Lincoln well he killed someone in Panama and you all know how that ends Sona or not)  After a lot of talking about what’s bad in the world ( the Company) and how they must be stopped ( the company) Michael and Lincoln are bailed out by Bruce Bennet and taken to a room where alas…. Sara stands ( looking much better and thinner then I remember her,     and most important has a head)  Michael embraces her and almost cries ( although I must admit his eyes are pretty messed up the entire episode, I guess being incarcerated, planning an escape, seeing prisoners hang themselves, conning the pretty doctor and still falling in love with her, escaping with murderers and pedophiles, running an entire season without eating or resting ( didn’t it seem like they NEVER ate or rested in Season 2) then hopping on over to a foreign country on a freighter, setting up your enemy, finding the doctor you conned and fell in love with waiting for you, only to be on the run when that doctor shoots one of the people trying to kill, you then take the fall for pretty doctor landing in Sona a cesspool for criminals run by the inmates in some fascist dictatorship, you then do what you do best, watch people die, dig a tunnel, escape and then head out for revenge for the death of the pretty doctor who while you were incarcerated had her head chopped off ( or so we are led to think by Lincoln and Gretchen and everyone else) .  I guess all that will give you red eyes.  Boy did I get off track.
 
Michael and Sara talk, kiss and avoid the subject of where the Heck she has been the last month.  Finally Sara lifts her shirt ( no not like that) and shows Michael the giant welts on her back while we sit through flashbacks of Gretchen beating the crap out of her.  Michael gets angry, then a shot is fired through the room.  So Linc burts in and they all RUN ( of course) and finally Michael and Linc look at each other and realize they can’t keep running ( thank god) and they will work for the ( Agent Self) and take down the company.  So they call him in the middle night.
 
Gretchen goes to meet Padman in the desert where he basically calls her an incompetent waste of space and has his scary killer guy ( the one killing everyone) there to “take care of her” 
 
 Mahone calls Pam to express his feelings and she returns them and he gets excited and heads home to Colorado.  However scary guy “Wyatt” has beaten him there and suffice to say its not a pretty scene. ( I hate even when they elude to killing children but obviously it has happened) Mahone breaks down in the arms of police who wont let him in the house.
 
Somewhere among all this, Self says he will get  Mike and Linc a crack team to work with.  Michael and Linc come to find this is Sucre (who was set up by MariCruz nasty sister Theresa at the hospital where he held his baby girl)  ((although I could have sworn in season 1 when she was barely pregnant saying she was pregnant with his son))  So that’s how Sucre ends up there. 
Bellick is there and had helped Sucre out therefore he is now on their side. Mahone is also there distraught but ready to take down the company.  Michael basically says if you do this and die it’s not my fault.  They accept and Michael says Sara is in also.
 
They are taken to a safehouse which is a wherehouse type room somwhere in the Port of Los Angeles on a shipping dock type thing.   There is an empty boat which Michael gives to Sara to sleep in.  (no sharing of rooms for them yet)
 
There is also a crazy computer hacker guy who Self has working with them.   Basically he created a device that will steal any type of digital information in like a 10 foot radius( and I do mean any information) .  He is also working off some type of punishment.  Apparently in the criminal world you can avoid jail time by being really craft or smart and being a right hand man for the police or homeland security (whatever).
 
while this is all going on T-Bag has bought a ride with some coyotes ( people who smuggle people across borders) however after being stupid enough to trust them and tell them about the $$ they beat him and the guy he was traveling with and leave him for dead in the dessert.  The guy he was with goes mental and wants to eat T-Bag so T_bag has to knock him out.. sadly he falls down and hits his head on a rock killing him.  T-bag then has a BBQ and well, he wasn’t eating chicken.  Finally he is rescued and taken to San Diego ( Which looks an awful like Santa Monica but hey )  HE is following clues in Whistlers bird book ( yes he still has it although if memory serves he was eating pages of it along the way) it leads him to a locker which has James Whistlers information in it.  hmmmmm ( too bad he’s dead now)
 
Now the team gets real Oceans 11 on us and come up with a plan to try to swipe the information on the card (Syclla) that Whistler gave to this guy.  So Sucre and Bellick pull a very popular scam where they are in front of the guy in his car and slam on the breaks therefore causing that car to hit them.  Sucre has the device in his pocket but alas no information is being retrieved so they back off but get some cash (yay them)
 
Hmmmmm Plan B Try to get the device into the guys house so you can find Syclla.   So Sara drops the device into the unsuspecting maids purse and voila they trick her into thinking the alarm company wants her to check all windows in the house.  She is then talked into waiting in the room while the device swipes the stuff off the card.  YAY everyone is happy… until after having Bellick pretend to steal her purse realize it isn’t there.  OH NO she must have left it in the house. OH NO now they have to break in and try to steal it. 
So after a false alarm at a neighbors sends all the 47 guards away from the house perimeter, Michael and Mahone break in, steal the device and almost get caught ( but they dont).

Earlier Michael and Sara discuss Scylla It is a reference to Homer’s classic novel, “The Odyssey.” Scylla was a six-headed monster in the story, and Odysseus had to sacrifice his team in order to stop the monster. Michael panics as he ponders how he could sacrifice 6 members of his team. The only other way is to sacrifice yourself (which is more in line with his thought process anyway)

They get back to the Wherehouse and download the info… but wait, where all the info… where is it….. OMG… its just a piece…. 

Michael has an epiphany the 6 headed monster and sacrifice doesn’t mean what he thought at all… Scylla is the 6 headed monster, meaning there are 6 pieces not 1.
 
During this entire process Sara has flashbacks, gets angry and beats the crap out of the side of the building.  Michael doesn’t see this but later tells her she doesn’t have to talk about it, but when she wants to, he is there. ( awww)
 

BUT alas…. The most important question and answer… I have left out.. The TATOO
Well Michael says there is no way for him to try and hide and go undercover with a huge tattoo on his body. When asked his tolerance for pain Michael just has that Michael look. So we see his tattoo being burned off. (in reality he would probably have 3rd degree scarring on his body and it would take a few months to heal) but in Prison Break land… its gone a day or so later and he can roll up his sleeves.

Oh and at the very end you see someone getting beaten and tortured and it’s Gretchen (how Ironic, don’t you think, a little ironic, yeah I really do think)

What’s to come, what plan will they come up with.  Will Sara reveal to Michael her pain or will they both continue to self destruct together.  Will Linc stop brooding and will the wrid guy with the super hacker skills be any more interesting of a character next week?
