Recap
No Plan is Not A Good Plan
Mahone, T-Bag, Bellick, Lechero, Whistler and Michael sit in a room trying to figure out how to escape. Nobody seems to have a plan.
Sofia tells Lincoln that she wishes she could go back in time, back to when things made sense. Lincoln gets out of the car to talk to Michael. “Is that Whistler’s girlfriend?” Michael asks. He also wants to know why they are spending so much time together. He doesn’t think that is wise. Michael then tells Lincoln that the tunnel gets them IN to no-man’s land but they will need a guard diversion to get to the fence. “What time?” Lincoln asks.
Michael then says that T-Bag, Bellick, and a drug-lord will be joining them. Lincoln says that he doesn’t care, it’s all about Whistler. Michael ponders if there is another way to do it, to get LJ back without handing Whistler over. A strange expression crosses his face.
Rain Rain Go Away
Whistler tells everyone that once they get out, it’s every man for themselves. T-Bag quotes the Bible while everyone continues working. They continue to dig, reinforce, and dig some more. Suddenly a water leak is discovered. “Oh no,” Michael says. They head upstairs to discover that it is raining outside and a sink hole is apparent in the middle of the yard. Michael says it’s not going to hold until tomorrow. “We leave tonight,” he says.
They all continue to argue. Lechero says that a nighttime escape is impossible. Bellick worries about the rain collapsing the tunnel. Mahone puts his faith in Michael and says if he can find a way to get them out at night, they will all work in the tunnel.
Michael approaches McGrady. McGrady says he knows that Michael is leaving and that it sucks that he is not taking him with them, after everything he has done. Michael says that he is giving him a gift, that it is better than a life on the run. “I’m sorry, it’s for the best,” Michael says. “How do you know what’s best for me?” McGrady shouts as Michael walks away.
Sucre, Lincoln, and Sofia are in a hotel room. Sofia is packing. Lincoln says it’s probably best if she and Whistler disappear after the escape. She nods and then confirms Lincoln’s mode of transportation. Lincoln expresses concern that Michael isn’t going to give up Whistler. Sucre sounds slightly paranoid in return.
The Back-Up
Michael contemplates cutting the electricity but is concerned about the back up generator. He then calls Lincoln and says that they are escaping tonight. “You want to tell me how you’re going to pull this off?” Lincoln asks. Michael says that first off he needs to talk to Sucre.
Sucre is in a bar. Susan B. walks in and hands over the bomb that she thinks he left in his car. She tells him that if anything happens, anything happens that she wasn’t expecting, there will be one less pregnant girl in Chicago. So she asks again if the brothers are going to break Whistler out of Sona. Sucre says yes. She then asks if they are planning on releasing Whistler to her. Sucre hesitates and Susan B. moves for the kill. After he can breathe again Sucre says that Michael is expressing some concerns about handing Whistler over, after he broke out some pretty bad guys in Fox River the previous year.
Susan B. chats with Lincoln on the phone. He tells her that the break out will be happening that night.
Whistler asks Michael if he would be breaking out if they didn’t need Whistler. Michael says no and Whistler wants to know why. Michael says that he believes in paying for his sins.
Alliances
Down in the tunnel T-Bag and Lechero continue digging. T-Bag says that maybe they can help each other once they escape. He thinks that Michael is upstairs planning something.
Michael looks out the window, just in time to see a guard truck driving straight for the sink hole. The truck gets stuck in the mud a couple of feet from the hole as Lechero and T-Bag stare above their heads. The guards unload the truck and leave everything in the mud. They then push the truck backwards out of the mud and drive off. One crisis averted.
Sofia stops at a pay phone and is taken captive. Susan B. then calls Lincoln and asks to meet him face-to-face to have a little chat about what’s going down tonight.
Sucre is stopped by one of the guards and told that it is payday and he should pick up his check. He then calls Michael to find out how he can help. Michael sends Sucre to the back-up generator. Sucre gives him the model number and customer service number. Michael says that’s all he needs. Sucre offers up some extra support in the way of *fixing* the jeep patrols.
Bellick and Mahone work so nicely together to make a cover for the hole once they get out. Bellick wants to be Butch and Sundance with Mahone. He thinks they can take Michael back home and be heroes. Bellick seems pretty desperate… he doesn’t know what he can do once they get out.
Lincoln walks into Susan B. and Sofia sitting down sharing some drinks. Sofia looks pretty miserable.
Incentive
Michael dials customer service and asks how long they will be int the dark before the generator kicks in. He tells Whistler that they should have just enough time to make it out. Lincoln calls Michael and asks to speak to Whistler. “Tell him I want him to listen very carefully to the following instructions,” Susan B. says. Sofia speaks. She then burns Sofia and Whistler hears her scream through the phone. He calls out her name. Susan B. then asks if he’s got the coordinates worked out. When he says nos he lunges for Sofia again but he yells out. “I’m pretty sick of waiting around for you guys to screw me over,” Susan B. says. “I’m going to need those coordinates by the end of the day.” And she burns Sofia again.
Whistler looks sick as he puts down the phone. Michael seems to feel some empathy. “I’ve got to figure this out,” he says. Michael tells him that he can’t just hand over that information and Whistler asks why. “Once they get what they want, they have no reason to keep your girlfriend alive,” Michael says. Whistler says that he can’t or they’ll just keep torturing Sofia.
T-Bag says that he and Mahone are a lot alike. They both lost the love of their life, they’ve both killed a man, and they’re both in prison due to Michael. Mahone wants nothing to do with him though!
Lincoln puts some first aid cream and bandages on Sofia’s neck.
To Give or Not To Give?
Whistler tells Michael that he’s giving over the coordinates. Michael wonders what would happen if he gives over false coordinates, would they have time to get Sofia to safety? “Like you did with Sara?” Whistler asks. OUCH! “I’m sorry,” Whistler says. Michael still tries to talk him out of giving the coordinates.
Sucre distracts the guards and cuts some of the hoses in the trucks. He then goes to leave but is sidetracked. He’s taken to the guard shack. Uh oh.
Whistler, Michael, Susan B, Sofia, and Lincoln all meet at the gate. Whistler tells Sofia that it’s not her fault. He just didn’t know bad the people were when he took the job. He holds up the paper with the coordinates and tears it in half. He hands part of it to Susan B. He says she’ll get the rest when Sofia, LJ, and the other men are safe. “I’m impressed,” Susan B. says. She gives them 24 hours to get the rest of the coordinates or she’s going to kill LJ and Sofia.
Whistler turns to Michael, “I’ve helped you, now you help me. Please. Just get us out of here.”
Order of Operations
Michael walks up to Grady. He says when you’re on the run you’re always looking over your shoulder… You change your name, the way you look, and you leave everything and everyone behind. “That’s what’s waiting for you on the outside, that’s why I couldn’t bring you on.” Michael then says that it is his decision, he can’t be responsible for him. Michael hands him the phone and says to call his father to arrange to be picked up.
Mahone, Bellick, and T-Bag think the tunnel is ready. Bellick is freaking out and wanting to learn Spanish! Michael says that as soon as the lights go out, he’s gone. With or without them. And they only have 30 seconds.
Lincoln drives and stops the car. He stares at an electricity pole. Meanwhile Sucre is still being held. They tell him that he isn’t going to be paid today. They ran his file and there’s been a slight problem. “You have a warrant out for your arrest.”
Lincoln holds up a bus! He holds up a knife and tells everyone to get out.
Down in the tunnel some of the boys have made a decision. Lechero holds up a knife to Whistler’s throat. T-Bag decides that they should go first.
Sucre pleads his case but he’s not going anywhere. The guards have issues with their trucks. Sucre smiles.
Lincoln drives the bus. Right into the electrical pole. He jumps out right at the last second. The prison is flooded with darkness.
“Thirty seconds. Go.”
