Prison Break – Episode 3.02 Recap

Prison Break
Episode 3.02 – Fire/Water
Aired: September 24, 2007

First Contact

A quick flash around all the characters. Mahone is going crazy. Bellick is limping in his undies. T-Bag is kissing up to Lechero. McGrady is talking to Michael. Michael gets a sip of water and then asks McGrady about Whistler. Whistler killed the mayor’s son in a barfight.

A fight breaks out and the clean water barrel is knocked over. Lechero says there will be more water.

Michael opens up the note that Bellick slipped in his pocket. He goes to Bellick and exchanges info for some water. Bellick says that he got some rat meet [HA, rat meet!] from a guy in the sewers. Michael leaves and heads on a fun journey underground. “Whistler,” he whispers as he walks through the muck. He walks to a wall and whispers [how does he know which wall to go to?] He says that he’s supposed to get Whistler out. Whistler coughs and responds. He says that it’s going to be a bit hard to get him out, considering as soon as he is above ground, if another inmate spots him, he’s a dead man.

Michael says that he’ll come and get Whistler when the time is out. Whistler wants to know what Michael’s “bosses” want with him. Michael tells him to stay put.

Susan B. Anthony Isn’t so Sweet

Susan B. Anthony and Lincoln meet up. Susan B. Anthony says she knows how he feels and there’s for him to threaten her if they hurt LJ and Sara. She tells Lincoln that she will meet up with him every day. She says that if she calls on his cell phone he is to pick up immediately. Not ask stupid questions. She says they need to make a plan and execute it. Lincoln doesn’t look at her once. He says he wants a picture of Sara and LJ. He also says that he can’t get Whistler out in a week but she tells him anyway. Lincoln tells her that if anything happens to Sara and LJ he is going after her family, not her. [Nice threat!]

It’s Sucre!

We see Sucre. Flashbacks to Maricruz. He buys a gun with an angry expression on his face. [Can you blame him?]

There’s some contesting of Lechero’s power by a few of the inmates. Bellick starts begging for food “por favor” and gets something thrown at his head. With nowhere left to go, he follows Michael and wants to know his interest in the “man down there”. Bellick is in tears and Michael promises to help him when he can.

Mahone is talking to McGrady about Whistler. McGrady tells him that whoever catches Whistler will get to go before a judge. The mayor is friendly with the judge, so that prisoner will get to go free. Mahone tells McGrady that this will stay between the two of them.

The Truth About Maricruz

Bellick walks to the fence to see Sucre. He begs Sucre to get him out. “Where’s Maricruz?” Sucre asks. Bellick says that she is good, she’s okay, but that he’s not telling him anything until he helps him out. Sucre pulls out the gun. “I don’t care anymore.” Sucre says. Bellick says he doesn’t know where she is, she ran. He just ripped the crucifix from her neck. “She’s picking grapes, I have no idea.” Bellick begs Sucre to call his mom but Sucre turns and leaves. “I never laid a hand on her. I would never do that,” he calls after Sucre. “Sucre help me!” [I feel REALLY bad for Bellick at this point!]

Mahone Interferes

Mahone meanders into the sewage. Whistler is shaking behind the wall. Just as Mahone turns to leave Whistler coughs. Mahone steps back toward him.

Michael and Lincoln meet at the fence. Michael shows Lincoln the note in his pocket from Whistler. He also asks for some money. Lincoln hands him cash before being yelled at by the guards to step back. Michael says he’s going to break Whistler out, or die trying. He says that has to count for something and that Lincoln needs to tell them that. “I’d trade places with you in a second,” Lincoln says. “I know,” Michael responds before turning away.

Mahone tells Whistler that he’s not safe there and that he can take him somewhere safe. “If you’re here to help me, then just leave me alone,” Whistler says. Mahone proceeds to shove a metal prod through the hole in the wall at him!

Banco de Versailles

Lincoln randomly meets up with Sucre. Lincoln tells Sucre that he’s still wanted and he needs to walk away from Maricruz because she’s innocent. Sucre hops on a bus and takes off. The bus says “Banco de Versailles” on the back. Lincoln looks at his note that says Versailles 1989 V Madrid.
Sofia is looking at her note and steps into a taxi.

What to do About Whistler

Lechero hands T-Bag a jug of water and sends him out. Everyone tries to grab him. Bellick tries to talk to him, says he has something for Lechero. He has “information, good information.” T-Bag drags Bellick upstairs and he rats on Whistler. Lechero asks if he’s Australian. “Yeah, yeah” Bellick says. Lechero smiles.

Mahone breaks through the wall.

T-Bag hands out some drops of water. Michael asks McGrady questions about breaking out. McGrady says “you Americans ask a lot of questions.” Michael glances around and notices some people making for the sewer. He also sees that Bellick is now clothed and eating. “Oh no.”

Mahone drags Whistler out from behind the wall. Lechero’s guys appear. Michael appears. “He’s coming with me,” Mahone says.
He tells Michael to back up and holds his metal pole out in front of him. Michael tells Mahone that he will testify for him but Mahone tells him to back up. Whistler makes a break for it. Mahone slowly backs up after him. Michael runs the other way.

The Riots Continue

Michael goes to Lechero. He offers his assistance in return for the bounty being lifted from Whistler. “I need you to trust me,” Michael says. But Lechero says he doesn’t know him good enough. T-Bag enters and Lechero asks if he can trust him. “He’s a snake,” T-Bag says. Michael begs for two more minutes but Lechero sends him out. The inmates below continue to riot against Lechero.

Michael pays McGrady for some alcohol.

Lincoln watches Sofia at the Banco de Versailles. She is a signature on Whistler’s account there.

The Run

Sucre sits on a bench talking to a girl. Two policemen walk past. They ask him if he needs anything but he says he’s waiting for the bus. The girl walks away with her baby and gets on the bus. Sucre stays seated.

Whistler continues his run through the maze of sewage with Mahone close behind.

McGrady appears with the alcohol. Michael asks for plastic bags. [What, is he MacGyver now?]

At the bank Sofia is given something small from the safe deposit box. Lincoln follows her out. He says he knows she is Whistler’s girl and grabs the bag. It’s a book on Birds. Someone watches the exchange from a car.

Michael pours the alcohol into the bags and puts it into a pail.

Mahone drags Whistler along and confronts Lechero’s guys. Michael goes into the sewer, following the pipes with his hands.

Lechero calls outside the prison and asks for some water. “Day after tomorrow.”

Water Saves the Day

Michael continues his MacGyver moves while Mahone drags Whistler into the courtyard. He keeps swinging his club around to keep everyone away. Michael sets the alcohol on fire, starting a trail down through the pipes. It dislodges something and water starts pouring out of the pipes in the courtyard. Lechero knows that Michael did it. He tells Mahone that he was outbid. “That was very useful,” he tells Michael. Whistler is clear and Lechero is happy. Mahone is not so happy.

Sucre Walks Away

Sucre calls Maricruz. He tells her that he’s been thinking and the only thing that matters to him is that she and the baby are okay. He tells her that he’s not coming back. He loves her more than anything, but he only brings her down. One day, when he gets his life together, however long that takes, he will find her and make she and the baby proud.

Good-bye.

Lincoln Shows His Smarts

Susan B. Anthony tells Lincoln to leave Sofia alone. She follows that by pulling a gun on him and tells him to give her what he found. Lincoln tells her that it’s just a bird guide. “I am not going to ask you again,” she says. He throws it on the table and she leaves. Of course, he was smart enough to have purchased a second one and kept the original in his pants!!!

Lechero’s men drown the prisoner who instigated the riots. Whistler thanks Michael and asks how they are getting out of the prison. “I have no idea,” Michael says.
