Preview & Trailer: Smart People

“Smart People” hits theaters this Friday, April 11, 2008. It looks like it could be a bright spot in a fairly lackluster weekend at the movies. At least it features a bunch of my favorite actors, so that’s usually a good sign. AND it’s from the producer of Sideways (Michael London), one of my favorite movies.

Lawrence Wetherhold (Dennis Quaid) is a brilliant college professor, but as a widower he’s struggling to raise his teenage daughter, Vanessa (Ellen Page). It doesn’t help when his slacker brother, Chuck (Thomas Haden Church), moves in. The only bright spot in Lawrence’s life is when he meets up with one of his sexy former students, Janet (Sarah Jessica Parker).

Directed by Noam Murro and written by Mark Jude Poirier, this movie is rated R for language, brief teen drug and alcohol use, and some sexuality. Check out the official site for Smart People.
