Picture: Sting and Puff Daddy Do “I’ll Be Missing You”

Much like the famous picture of Michael Jackson kissing Lisa Marie Presley, Sting and Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You” performance is a legendary moment in the history of the MTV Video Music Awards. This performance took place in 1997 and paired an unlikely duo.

“I’ll Be Missing You” is a song by Puff Daddy in regards to The Notorious B.I.G., who was killed on March 9th, 1997. The song sampled Sting and that’s how the unlikely duo was born.

Puff Daddy has gone on to become one of the most successful figures in the hip hop game. Forbes’ estimation has Puff Daddy, now known as Diddy, worth nearly half a billion dollars.

Sting ain’t doing too bad, either. He has 16 Grammy Awards and is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Here is the Sting and Puff Daddy picture of “I’ll Be Missing You” from the 1997 VMAs:
