Paul McCartney Unhappy With McDonalds After Liverpool Restaurant Uses His Portrait

Paul McCartney VegetarianWhen he was in The Beatles, Paul ‘Macca’ McCartney was a gem. As part of the best song writing duo who have ever lived, he and John Lennon created some of the best songs ever released, ones that still stand up to scrutiny today.

So what has happened since then to turn him in to one of the least friendly and humourless celebrities around?

Let’s not beat around the bush here, Paul McCartney’s solo stuff is crap. No seriously, even the big hits aren’t a patch on what he wrote and released when he was The Beatles.

How he has still got a career is beyond me. Here is a man definitely living on his past glories.

And it’s not just in his professional life that he annoys me. Sure, Heather Mills is (allegedly) a money-grabbing spawn of Satan, but McCartney himself was hardly innocent in the whole thing. He’s worth a fortune yet he tried to get out of giving his ex-wife any of it.

Then there was the recent concert in Israel, which although not a bad thing, was clearly just as much staged as a publicity stunt as it was for any kind of peace protest. And now McCartney has truly revealed his humourless and dour outlook on life by complaining that McDonald’s in Liverpool have a portrait of him on the wall.

According to The Sun, Macca went mad when he discovered that a Liverpool branch of McDonald’s had a picture of him on the wall along with his fellow Beatles John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. McCartney’s spokesman Geoff Baker told the newspaper:

“What sort of morons do McDonald’s think Beatles fans are? It’s ridiculous and insulting to use images to peddle hamburgers. Fans should boycott McDonald’s — and not just in Liverpool.”

Woah there, hang on a minute. Yes, so Paul McCartney is a vegetarian: good for him. But that doesn’t mean his picture should be banned from establishments selling meat does it? I eat meat, and I write a blog where I talk about Paul McCartney. Oh the humanity!

A McDonald’s spokeswoman responded by stating that the pictures were to “acknowledge the outstanding contribution the Beatles made to both local and global culture”. And rightly so. The Beatles are an important part of the city’s history, and so what if Macca’s picture is pasted on the wall of a fast food restaurant selling meat products.

I do wonder how Paul McCartney found out about the picture because he probably hasn’t been to Liverpool in years. Like the rest of The Beatles, he left at the first opportunity and hasn’t looked back. Now there’s gratitude for you.

Who the HELL do you thing you are?? His solo stuff is “crap?” Wow, you are a Fool On The Hill. Paul’s solo career is Golden. He proved that he is perfectly capable on his own, outsite of The Beatles, as did John, George and Ringo in their own ways. And as for ‘humourless,’ the only humourlessness I see is in the person who wrote this article. I don’t see anything funny about what the McDonals’ bastards did with Paul’s picture. The Beatles have always been private people… They have more feelings than most celebrities out there. And the least we can do for everything they’ve ever graced this world with is to protect and defend them again ignorant fools like you. I’m gonna boycott their ASS for hurting Paul. You just fueled that determination.

“humourless and dour outlook on life”. I don’t understand how you end up saying that about a 65 year old person who still makes records and tours the world. You have to be more respectful, he’s a beatle. And his solo stuff is much nicer than your writing.

When you know what you are talking about David you may get a reasonable response.

McCartney is regularly in Liverpool and has invested time effort and funds in various projects that are not for self promotion but to support mainly younger peoples development in Liverpool.

He has certainly not forgotten his roots.

Clearly you dont know what you are talking about. To suggest he has not been back to Liverpool for years shows a shocking lack of knowledge and integrity on your part.

    Well done.
