On DVD: Timothy Hutton Stars in 'Lymelife'

Academy Award-winning Leverage star Timothy Hutton has a brand-new feature film out on DVD the week of September 22, the independent comedy-drama Lymelife.

Timothy Hutton/Leverage

Penned by brothers Derick Martini and Steven Martini and directed by Derick, the coming-of-age movie follows the lives of two suburban families who live in the Syosset area of Long Island, New York, in the late 1970s. Events unfold through the eyes of 15-year-old Scott Bartlett (Rory Culkin, Mean Creek) as an outbreak of Lyme disease, failing relationships, and real estate issues all strike at once.

In addition to Hutton, who plays Scott’s ill and unemployed neighbor Charlie Bragg, the film stars a lot of other familiar faces, many from television. They include 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin and Crossing Jordan’s Jill Hennessy as Scott’s parents and Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon as Charlie’s wife Melissa. Rory’s real-life older brother Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down) also portrays his on-screen sibling Jimmy, a soldier in the United States Army.

Check out the trailer for the well-received flick below. I ordered the DVD from Netflix this week and although I haven’t watched yet, it looks good to me.

Leverage returns to TNT this winter with new episodes.
