The Waterboy is one of those classic films that is so silly that it’s hilarious. I’ve seen it a million times but whenever it comes on, I can’t resist watching at least a few minutes. I liked Adam Sandler a lot more back when he was making films like this one and Happy Gilmore so it takes me back to happier times.
In the film, Sandler plays Bobby Boucher, a waterboy for who lives at home with his crazy ass mother (masterfully acted by Kathy Bates) who thinks that everything is evil – especially women and football. When the 31-year-old discovers that he has an amazing talent for tackling people (by pretending they are making fun of him), he gets the chance to play as the star player. Of course, he’s got to keep his new position (and girlfriend) away from his mother but, naturally, the truth ends up coming out and Bobby has to decide whether to listen to his mom or live his own life.
Here is a collection of great moments from the movie – it’s totally worth the five minutes! Fortunately, the film has come out on Blu-ray so fans using the format can enjoy more than the highlights!
