OMG, OMG, OMG!! A Lead Character is Going to Die on House!!

House Spoilers

[Photo: © 2009 FOX Broadcasting Co.]

I just read this an nearly had a heart attack! According to the spoiler gurus, there will be a death of one of the lead characters on House before the season ends! I am so bewildered about who it can be and upset at the possibilities! First, Here are the spoilers from the various sources.

Kristin at E! Online gives us this:

A main character will die this season.

This is the news I’m now hearing from reliable sources on House, that one of the cast members will be written out before the current season ends.

And trust me, it will shock the pants off of you. (Assuming you are wearing pants.)

So who will it be?

Obviously, we can’t come right out and report who will die because that would spoil a major plotpoint that will serve as the climax of the season. And honestly, it is far too good to spoil!

However, I can tell you:

  1. It’s not the most likely candidate–not by a longshot.
  2. It’s not someone who has been rumored to be leaving.
  3. It is someone who will shock you.
  4. How it happens will take you completely by surprise.
  5. There is no lead up to this death, it just…happens.

As House boss Katie Jacobs told us recently: “I think our cast will look pretty much the same next season.” The emphasis there is on pretty much, and it’s my understanding that it will be just one cast member to leave. Everyone else will be back in the fall. [Source: E! Online]

And not to be outdone, Michael Ausiello at EW gives us this:

A major character on a show we are obsessed with will commit suicide before the season is over — and no one will see it coming. The shocking death will send shockwaves through the show and the fallout will be immense.

Spoilerphobes may want to hit the nearest exit, because I’m about to give you a hint…

I learned of this death after I compiled my 2009 season-ending death chart, so it is not reflected on there. And it may never be. It’s a DEFCON 1 spoiler, so I’m proceeding with the utmost caution. I may at some point, between now and when the episode airs, stealthily update the chart with this catastrophic development. Or I may not. Just to be safe, you may want to refresh the page at least once a day.

In the meantime, let’s get those guesses flowing in the comments section. Just to recap what we know:

  • Major character
  • Major show
  • Not featured in death chart

Let the speculation begin… [Source: EW]

The most obvious point to make here is that no one on House is included in the so-called death chart!

So let’s take a look at the possibilities and see if we can come up with a theory or two. Here are my thoughts:

  • House / Hugh Laurie: Ok, I know the spoilers said that it was a “main character” and a “major character”, but I want to go on record saying that I totally don’t believe it’s Greg House. How could the show continue to exist without the title character. The show IS House! Definitely not him.
  • Cuddy / Lisa Edelstein: Cuddy just adopted a beautiful new baby. She has everything to live for. If she had just given birth, we might possibly worry that she was dealing with post-partem depression. But I seriously doubt that it’s going to be Cuddy. Besides, she’s under contract for several more seasons. I don’t think it’s her.
  • Wilson / Robert Sean Leonard: Part of what makes House such a compelling character is the way he plays off Wilson’s complementary issues. I could see any of the others leave the show before Wilson. And if it is Wilson, I worry about how they will continue the same level of the show. Part of the chemistry of the show is the House/Wilson “bromance.” I don’t think it’s Wilson.
  • Cameron / Jennifer Morrison: I don’t have any difinitive news about whether Jennifer Morrison is signed to be back next season or not. But the powers that be have been promising her return to a more central role for a while now. Unless they have all suddenly changed their minds, I don’t think it’s Cameron…at least I hope not!
  • Chase / Jesse Spencer: I know that we’ve seen far too little of the Aussie hottie Chase for the past two seasons, but we have already been given the news that he’ll be back next season. So I have serious doubts that it’s Chase.
  • Foreman / Omar Epps: I hope beyond all hope that it is not Foreman. Omar Epps is a fabulous actor and brings so much to the show. (Remember the two-part episode where he almost died? It’s one of the most intense ever!) I think Foreman is so important to the cast because he wants so much to not be like House, but is like him anyway. However, it concerns me that he has damaged his career this season by falsifying the research results. If Thirteen were to really dump him, would it make him do himself in? I absolutely don’t want it to be him, but who knows what the PTB have in mind…I suppose he could be a vague possibility.
  • Thirteen / Olivia Wilde: She would be the most obvious, since she not the most popular character and because she has Huntington’s. I could easily see her character wanting to end her life before she began to lose her abilities to function. After all, once a person has seen a parent die slowly with Huntington’s, it must not be a thing they would want to go through themselves. However, I am also aware that Kristin tells us, “It’s not the most likely candidate–not by a longshot.” I think this is a possibility, but not as likely as some of the others.
  • Kutner / Kal Penn: I think Kutner is one of the more likely candidates for being written out of the show. But we haven’t been given any foreshadowing at all for Kutner. Yes, he lost both of his parents and is alone, but that was years ago and he seems to have adjusted fine since then. I also think that Kal Penn’s special way of adding that “innocent little boy” curiosity to the show is special. He also has wonderful comic timing too, which could be utilized even more in the future. I totally like Kal Penn and Kutner. I hope it’s not Kutner that leaves, but his would be one of the characters that I could see being possibly written out…
  • Taub / Peter Jacobson: Taub is the most likely choice in my mind. Here are my reasons for thinking that it could be him. For one thing, he is having marital problems. He has cheated on his wife, they can’t agree about whether to have children or not and he left his original choice of specialty, plastic surgery, because of some deep-seated need for something that was missing in his life. He has also been rather grumpy with House off and on this season. I also think that if they have to get rid of a character, his is the most easily removed. He isn’t as critical to the show dynamics as the others. (Sorry, Peter! You’re terrific, but your character hasn’t been developed enough yet…)

Now I want to hear what you think! Please comment and vote!!

Lina: Thank you! Finally someone else than me who points out that Chase is gonna be back in season 6.

Now, for (hopefully) the last time: Everyone! It’s NOT CHASE AND CAMERON!
They’ll both be back in the next season. (unless, of course, Kate Jacobs and co are lying to us…)

  2. By Lina

ah don’t worry ’bout that… and about the opening credits… I wouldn’t trust 100% on me… I know I read an interview about it, but I don’t find the exact interview so… well you got me right?…
but I don’t think they’re gonna kill anybody very popular like Chase and Cameron… 13 also has some good fans so… I don’t know…

  3. By Bandeti

Lina: Oh, I was willing to bet it isn’t Chase or Cameron if only because of upcoming episodes and stories about next season.

And it wont be 13 because— she’s the character viewers love to hate.

    I, personally, like the character.

Thanks for the info on the opening credits.

  4. By Lina

Bandeti: for what I’ve read, the opening credits never changed because they have a number of time for it, so they can’t do anything longer, and because of it they just added the others after…

and if you read other spoilers about Chase you’ll know he’ll have some problems with his green card and has to get married and nobody confirmed a wedding or/and if it will be with Cameron.

and besides, there was another spoiler that said the character’s actor did not want to leave. And Jesse already said, very excitedly that his character was coming back more next season ^^

My bet’s on either Wilson or Cameron. Sadly, as I’d like to say it, it has to be one of those two. Taub could die, but he needs more space to develop. Kutner could also die. Thirteen SHOULD die but won’t, Cuddy’s already signed up for a couple more seasons, Wilson…is depressed. And Chase could die, but unlikely.

This season has been TERRIBLE by far. I miss the old team…give us the good moments of season 2!

  6. By Bandeti

This may not have much bearing on anything but…

Has anyone every really noticed that they have never changed the opening credits of the show? It’s always the original team in the last credit shot and that the new team’s credits are ‘added’ in? Leads me to believe it one of the newbies and Kutner’s the one.

BTW, tho— a future episode is about a bachelor party and rumors are started as to ‘Are Chase and Cameron tying the knot?’ Well, JS has been quoted as saying if they ever took the C&C relationship down that road, he’d bolt (I think that was his exact term).

  7. By Willmore

When Taub is sitting, isn’t he also crying? I don’t remember seeing this before.
And Wilson, he looks like he have a little cut above his right eyebrow?

  8. By Lina

    each* one

  9. By Lina

Willmore, In the 5×20 preview, I think they’re using old clips from others too… for exemple I think that one where Taub is sitting and the old where’s Wilson is looking down is old too, maybe the 13′s “oh god” also, but I don’t remember what particular episode was which one…

  10. By Lina

maybe when they said “It’s not the most likely. Not by a longshot” was just to play with us, like manipulating us to confuse our minds… maybe is way more simple than we think… xD and I agree with what somebody above said, they wouldn’t kill Wilson with all the fans he has, not with the angry fans they already have with this crappy season (unless they’re really really crazy), so

maybe they used those polls like “who’s your favorito supporting castmember” (like the one on spoilertv) and checking there, we see that the less favorite are Foreman and Taub, both with 1%, (with Kutner right behind with 2%) so, if it’s not the most likely, Taub it’s a very likely one because of these last episodes, so my most recent guess now it’s Foreman, because nobody likes him!

  11. By Willmore

Oh yeah, and the spoiler saying it will be Wilson was confirmed to be an April fool!

  12. By Willmore

In the 5×20 preview, they’re using an old clip of Kutner running, it’s from “the softer side” when he went to check on House who stopped breathing.

So maybe it’s him who dies!

    Go check!

  13. By Lokun

Well… I think that “It’s not the most likely. Not by a longshot” means that it’s someone that doesn’t have a reason (at least not currently) to kill himself.
Wilson has clinical depression and was hinted (falsely) to be suicidal in the episode “The Social Contract”. Therefore… He doesn’t really cualify to be the one who dies.
*2 milion Robert Sean Leonard fans cheers*

And for the last time: CHASE IS IN SEASON 6!
WHAT kind of logic makes some of you people think that HE’S the one who’s gonna die?!?
    Why…? I just wonder… (- -);

A lot of you are thinking it is Wilson, but it was said that it wasn’t going to be predictable. Well… You all predicted it will be Wilson who is going to die, so… He’s isn’t the one!

lemsie: You got a point… XD

  17. By lauren

Beth: I know, i’m gonna miss him too!!=[ i’ll miss his crazy bedside manner and lighting patients on fire lol!
lemsie: very true, but this one seems legit unfortunately=[

  18. By lemsie

everybody lies. so maybe the house crew is too

  19. By Beth

Lauren: You must have seen the same photos I did. If he is the one to die…well…I’ll miss him! Lol!

there was a press release saying the person leaving didnt want to, it was a creative decision. i know no one thinks its going to be kutner, but im 99% sure it will be. ive seen pictures from the episode after “Simple Explanation” and he’s not in any of the pics where they are having a differential diagnosis. also, if you go to the house website and watch the April Fools Day prank they play on House, its him and the team walking down the hall, but kutner’s not with them. I know it seems like an obvious choice, but because of that not that many people actually think it will be him. but its looking like it is.
