Official Audio Podcast: “LA X”

The first real edition of the Official Lost Audio Podcast for Season 6 is now online, and you can download it at iTunes. This podcast features Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse discussing “LA X,” the season premiere.

After the jump, I’ll hit the highlights of what they reveal in this 23.5 minute show…

Much of what they discuss has been revealed elsewhere, so I’m only going to hit the stuff that’s new to the podcast:

  • They like to call the flashes into the alternate timeline “flash-sideways.”
  • They reiterate their insistence that the new timeline is not an “alternate” timeline. Both versions of reality are real, and one is no less legitimate than the other.
  • The changes in the “sideways reality” could go deeper than anyone imagines. They used the example of Desmond’s presence on the plane, and how Jack and Desmond originally met at the stadium because Desmond was training for a race around the world. They suggested that you have to trace things all the way back to Widmore when the bomb went off to explain this — was Widmore killed on the island when the bomb went off? If so, then not only would Desmond have no reason to race around the world in his boat, but Penny might not even exist!! “A lot more has changed than you think,” says Lindelof.
  • To everyone (like me) who has questioned why the flash-sideways matter, or why we the fans should invest in what’s happening there, they said, “You’re just going to have to be patient.”
  • There’s more Frogurt on the way.
  • They will address the Adam & Eve skeletons this season (in case you had any doubt).
  • “What Kate Does,” the next episode, will address what happened to Sayid. (And yes, it’s probably related to the water being murky instead of clear.)
