Oasis’ Noel Gallagher Takes Pop At Winehouse, Ronson, Kaiser Chiefs & More

I’m sure I’m living in some kind of time bubble as I keep experiencing deja vu, again, and again, and again. Just yesterday I reported how Amy Winehouse had hit one of her fans, yes, another one. And now Noel Gallagher has taken a pop at some of his fellow British artists. Didn’t he do that last week, and the week before?

Noel Gallagher Attacks Amy Winehouse

The older Gallagher was being interviewed on BBC Radio One, and was reportedly in a state of drunkenness, when he decided to go to town on a whole host of British singers and groups. This comes just a few months after he slagged Jay-Z off, a tirade he has now tried to backtrack on.

According to AFP, in the interview he described Amy Winehouse as a “destitute horse”. He then turned his attention to Winehouse’ friend and producer Mark Ronson.

“He wants to write his own tunes instead of ruining everyone else’s. Mark Ronson needs to learn three chords on the guitar and write a tune.”

He then branded Scouting For Girls (who even I have slagged off in the past) as Scouting For Idiots, before attacking Ricky Wilson and the Kaiser Chiefs.

“The Monkees haven’t split up, they’re just going under the name of the Kaiser Chiefs. I did drugs for 18 years and I never got that bad as to say, ‘You know what? I think the Kaiser Chiefs are brilliant’. Anybody whose drummer writes the songs are not to be trusted.”

Part of me does agree with Gallagher’s opinion of Mark Ronson, as however good his songs are, you are always aware he has only messed with other people’s work to foster his only career.

I don’t understand the “destitute horse” comment though as there are many more words that come to my mind when trying to describe Amy Winehouse.

The thing to remember is that Oasis have a new album coming out, and this is probably what is behind Noel’s little tirade against some of his industry cohorts. That, and the fact he admitted being drunk at the time.

I’m taking these comments in the same way as I took Liam Gallagher’s comments about Radiohead and Coldplay fans – with a pinch of publicity-seeking salt. Give it a few months and let the album be released and forgotten about, and we’ll have two years of silence from the Gallagher brothers.

Between them, they are turning in to media whore John Lydon.

Noel Gallagher Gives Verdict On Glastonbury 2009 Line-Up : Brit Music Scene - Brit Music Scene

[...] Thankfully, Noel has matured over the years. I know it’s hard to believe with some of the stuff he still comes out with but he has, now giving his opinion without resorting to mud flinging. At least most of the time. [...]

Noel seems a bit..cranky. It appears that he just wants to fight and bash people. It’s getting a bit annoying, really. Every once and a while he feels the need to publicly put someone down.
