It’s almost a new year and a new decade, and TNT plans to inaugurate both with an all-day movie marathon on Friday, January 1, 2010.

Even better, the first six flicks in the nine-movie extravaganza will air with limited commercials, which will make them about ten minutes shorter than the two-hour broadcast television norm.
Ten minutes doesn’t seem like much, I know, but viewers should take whatever they can get. Continue reading to check out the sci-fi and fantasy-filled lineup. Showtime begins at 9am ET and continues until 3:45am on Saturday.
INTERESTING TRIVIA: Peter Jackson, the Oscar-winning director of the night’s 8pm blockbuster The Lord of the Rings, as well as the highly anticipated upcoming feature The Lovely Bones, was recently knighted by England’s Queen Elizabeth II. What a nice way to end the year, if you’re into those kinds of honors.
