New Muse Album Still A Long Way Off

Muse Live On Stage_nc

Muse are probably the best band in the UK, and possibly even the world, right now. But to keep the quality of their material as high as we’ve come to expect it to be, they take an absolute age to release a new album. And it seems they are sticking true to form for the follow-up to 2006′s Black Holes And Revelations.

Muse started working on the new album earlier this year, and just last month announced they had several tracks in the bag for the next album. But it seems the new songs weren’t so much finished as just being started on. So us Muse fans have a little longer to wait than we may have expected.

According to the NME, bassist Chris Wolstenholme told BBC 6music:

“There’s about six or seven songs that we’ve started work on, but they’re still very young. I don’t think there’s anything that we’re ready to record yet.

“We just wanted to get started this year, to get the ball rolling a little bit rather than wait for a year doing nothing then get in the studio, and go, ‘What do we do now?’.”

“Sometimes you can suffer from having too much time off.”

This is both good and bad news in my opinion. Yes, I am gutted that I’ll have to wait much longer than I thought to get my hands on any new Muse material, with the latter half of 2009 looking likely as a release date. But the time and effort Muse are taking on the new album fills me with hope that it will be even better than Black Holes And Revelations – a tall order indeed.

Muse are one of those bands that could release an album every year and no matter how good or bad it was, the legions of fans would snap up every single copy. But they choose not to cash in and instead thankfully focus on producing quality over quantity. And I love them for it.

I’m happy to be patient and wait for the new material. Are you? If you still haven’t got in to Muse then do yourself a favour and listen to some of their songs on the magnificent Songza.

Muse is by far the best trio to EVER set foot on a stage in my opinion…very strong words but you tell me the last time a band 3-6 YEARS just to make 11-15 songs! that just goes to show everyone just how much they actually love making music not only for them but for every body that loves them.

I can’t wait for the next album. With how much time they’re taking on it, it should be pretty awesome.
