New House Is Right Poll: Supporting Cast

OK, it’s time for a new poll. We’ve all had our say over Best Couple, so let’s move on. Here’s the question: Does the supporting cast matter? We’ve all heard it before: House is a one-man show. What I want to know is, “Do you agree?” Would it make a difference if the roles of Chase, Wilson, Cuddy, Cameron, and Foreman were played by trained circus chimps? Or perhaps department store manequins? Or are they essential?

I’ll be weighing in later this week with two posts, one supporting each position. In the mean time, I hope you won’t be afraid to jump in and make your voice heard. Does the supporting cast matter?

I love Wilson and like Cuddy but they could recast the rest and I wouldn’t care. The writers have given me nothing to make me feel anything for the Ducklings….sad to say. We need to get to know them better….and fast. IMHO
And I think they picked the exactly right, perfect actor to play House. He is AMAZING!

yes, i can see it now… House parading around with 3 chimps at his heels… interesting… but nevertheless, knowing house, he’d just come up with a thousand and one puns at them all day long… but I totally agree with Rachel, the team has become essential!

Look, I have grown to love the actors but if the show had started out with different actors in there place then I probably wouldn’t notice the difference. Now that they are there though, if they were to be switched with someone else I would have to kill someone!!!!

“But to these particular actors matter? Admittedly, you couldn’t have Hugh Laurie ranting by himself. But what to Epps, Spencer, Morrison, Edelstein, and Leonard bring to the table that others couldn’t? ”

What are you, like some Hugh Laurie nazi? True, other actors can probably do the support well enough. But same can be said for House. I’m sure there is an actor out there who can do exactly what Hugh does. He just didnt audition.

    Let’s put it this way:
No RSL, no me watching the show.
And Lisa Edelstein helps a lot too.
Not only do (some of the) supporting characters matter, but the writers are dumb to place so much emphasis on one man alone. They are losing me with too much non-dynamic Gregory.

Of course the surporting cast matter!!!
the show would SUCK if it was only house! and if u think they should get rid of camron because her boobs are small u are SICK!!!

Yes, they are neccesary to provide satisfying conflict. A jerk is not a jerk if he does not act infuriatingly towards others. A genius is not clever if there is nothing to compare him against. House’s clever banter would not be satisfying without a satisfying Wislon, Cuddy, etc. pitted against him. THey are important.

YES!… The supporting cast does matter because otherwise their wouldn’t be enough people for House to s**t talk too. But get rid of Dr. Camron
because her breasts are too small!… No wonder House don’t like her

    Ron & Ella,
But to these particular actors matter? Admittedly, you couldn’t have Hugh Laurie ranting by himself. But what to Epps, Spencer, Morrison, Edelstein, and Leonard bring to the table that others couldn’t?

I think the supporting cast is essential. they’re the normal people to balance out house’s crazyness. and he needs someone other then his patients to be rude to. and without them, all the drama (and humor) would be focused on either him or the patients. making it predictable less funny, less dramatic and consequently boring.

    of course it matters.

Just trying to get something more than a one word answer out of you. ;)

Not really interested in backing it up. :) I know that I like the people playing the characters, though, and would notice if they were gone. Would I stop watching the show? No. Can I adjust? Probably, yeah.

  17. By Cory

    Can you back it up?

    Let’s go with yes.
