New Dramedy: Lipstick Jungle

Lipstick Jungle
The NBC dramedy Lipstick Jungle, the main competition of fellow Sex and the City wannabe Cashmere Mafia over on ABC, finally debuts for eager audiences this Thursday, February 7, at 10:01pm EST.

Although the show will feature many, many men — including fellow British 24 alumni Paul Blackthorne and Julian Sands — the series is really all about three central female characters (as opposed to Mafia‘s four).

Brooke Shields (Suddenly Susan) portrays married film company executive Wendy Healy.

Kim Raver (24) portrays ambitious magazine editor-in-chief Nico Reilly.

And, Lindsay Price (Beverly Hills, 90210) plays single fashion designer Victory Ford.

All three roles are based on characters from the bestselling novel of the same name by Sex and the City scribe Candace Bushnell, and as such, will revolve around the women’s dynamic professional careers and complicated personal lives. Sounds a lot like Mafia, doesn’t it?

Who’ll triumph in the battle to win over the hearts of TV viewers sorely looking for a Sex replacement? We should all see pretty soon now that both shows are about to air in parallel. Or perhaps the writers strike has starved fans of the genre so effectively, they’ll flock to both shows in nearly equal numbers.

Either way, you can keep current with Lipstick Jungle through the dramedy’s Episode Guide and Series Summary, as well as the Comedy Calendar listing all of the first season’s scheduled episodes.
