Movie website IESB.net reported yesterday on a recent press conference with Monk star Tony Shalhoub and forthcoming guest star Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal) to promote the series’ sixth-midseason premiere this Friday, January 11.
What’s of importance to fans of the show is that when asked what he thought about the idea of a Monk movie, Shalhoub gave a very encouraging reply.
It’s so funny you ask that because it’s something we talk about all the time. We would love to do that. The writers and the producers have kicked this idea around over the last, probably, three or four years. I’m hopeful that it would happen. There’s this two-parter… coming up at the end of the new run of shows. I think we’ve kind of proven that we can pull it off.. This particular episode is really cinematic. It’s got all the elements that the audience has come to appreciate about Monk. It just feels like a feature. So the answer is that I really hope so.
I’m one of many who believe that Shalhoub is extremely talented and that he totally owns the Adrian Monk role. So, if a studio should decide to put together a flick, there’s no doubt a guaranteed fan base out there just waiting to pay money to see it. I’ll keep my eyes and ears on the alert for more news about the feature film possibility.

I’d really like to see a Monk movie on the big screen!
I think Monk is a great show. I think a movie woud be an incredible idea. Though i dont think you should be ending it in the summer. But if you have to end it end it with a bang! I fully support the Monk movie. (only if you bring Dr. Crooger back on the show and rise him from the dead.)
