Worst news of the day: Dexter star Michael C. Hall has cancer.
Slightly better news of the day: It’s in remission.
The 38-year-old star, who plays serial-killer slayer Dexter Morgan on the Showtime series, has been receiving treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, E!’s Uberblog reports.
Hall said doctors caught the disease early, so he was able to get the best treatment.
“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition,” he said.
Hall’s treatment regimen shouldn’t crimp his award-season style, E! added.
Hall and wife/co-star Jennifer Carpenter (shown here in Berlin, Germany) expect to make a red-carpet appearance at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, where Hall is up for best actor in a drama. The newlyweds made their first public appearance as husband and wife at last year’s Golden Globes.
The couple also plans to attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Jan. 23, when Hall is again a nominee.
Season 5 of Dexter returns to Showtime in September.
