Meet Dr. House’s Psychiatrist

House Spoilers

When last we saw Dr. House, he was sadly entering a mental hospital, presumably to check himself in for rehab. At the Paley Center this week, the cast and producers for House gave us some info about what to expect for the show in season 6. Sadly, since I could not be there, I have to rely on other members of the press for the news.

According to Zap2It, Andre Braugher has been cast to play House’s doctor in the mental hospital. He was fantastic as the doctor on the series Gideon’s Crossing. (I loved that show!) He played a rather gruff, but extremely brilliant doc on that series and I feel very confident that he can be a serious factor in Dr. Greg House’s recovery. Great casting!!

The faceoff between Dr. House and his psych doctor will happen in the two-hour season premiere on September 21.

Series creator David Shore calls the premiere “more like a movie,” and word is the episode will take place almost entirely inside the mental facility.

[Hugh] Laurie, for his part, says he’s psyched to work with Braugher. “I have admired him as one of the greatest actors there is.”

Now I’m even more excited about the new season!!

I think the psychiatrist is going to be real tough on House until the good doc develops a strange illness and needs House’s help to cure him. :)

This is a crazy what if scenario.

Dr. House being a guest patient in Mental episodes.

Dr. House: Hey! I’m doctor House and I’m seeing dead bodies.
Dr. Jack: So you’re a doctor?
Dr. House: Well, not anymore Mr.Who_are_you.
Dr. Jack: I’m Jack and I’m here to help you.
Dr. House: Good. Can i have Vicodin?
Dr. Jack: The answer is NO.

    A. Honey, that guy is not attractive.
    B. I am really hoping they don’t take away House’s really mean but funny as hell mind! It’s the only reason I watch this show and it’s the only reason he’s so great!
    C. I have a really bad feeling about season six! Sounds boring :[
    D. Let House out of the ku ku place! I want him back to bullying patients! Teehee :]

the best psychiatrists are always played by attractive, slightly older black men with deep-ish voices.
    just sayin.

GRUFF meet GRUFF.. How Cool that they would have someone who could be as GRUFF as House himself, it should be a pretty awesome one on one battle for the first couple of shows…. It would have been even better if they had gotten STEPHEN FRY to play the Psychiatrist, with ROWAN ATKINSON as one of the fellow coo-coo patients. Can you imagine what a awesome show that would be with the three of them together again on “HOUSE” of all things. That would most certainly be a GOLDEN GLOBE and EMMY WINNER.

I’m so excited!!! I was hoping they’d deal with House’s time at Mayfield properly, and obviously they do!!! This and the news that there’s actually screen time planned for my favorite original ducklings is making me look forward to the new season after a reather disappointing season 5 (IMO it was rather weak compared to the first seasons ;-)), yay!

I was at the Paley. They also said the two hour premier would feature only regular cast RSL & HL. The boys have issues to resolve.
The two hours would start from when House enters the asylum & cover the 2 to 3 months he stays there. His psychiatrist, even on a self committal, can with hold House’s medical license until he deems House safe to practice. My guess is House will be close to not achieving that end until he dazzles even the hard nosed psychiatrist with his deductive diagnostic abilities. House’s convoluted mind is part of his greatness. They’ll eventually figure out what Wilson alone seems to understand.
