Man vs Wild premiered on Friday, May 2nd with Bear doing for viewers what he does best by going into one of the most extreme places on Earth. The episode starts off with Bear being dropped into the rapids of the Pakota Gorge.
This is such a risky and dangerous thing to do as the gorge is known to be filled with crocodiles and he does it only on a body board! He gives us a few tips about staying safe from croc attacks and then goes off into the woods to forage for food. He chops through and finds his first meal of the new season, rhino beetle larvae. Watch the video below of Bear having his first meal. He continues looking for food and winds up finding some left over prey from a leopard and ends up eating some raw carcass of an Impala.
On the first day of his “Adventure” he ends up getting diarrhea from eating too many worms, cooked might I add. Bear has to later climb a cliff which is about 90 degrees upwards and also has a waterfall ravening down it. Its interesting because I’m just thinking all this is soooo strange and yet so intriguing at the same time.
Bear finally makes it to the top of the cliff and makes a fire to signal for his helicopter to pick him up. I’m still not convinced about the legitimacy of all this. Its just too much for one human being to endure and I’m sure it’ll get more intriguing as the season wears on.
