LOST’s Season 5 finale codename revealed

ABC published a new edition of the Official Lost Audio Podcast today, featuring Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse answering lots of fan questions about the show. The podcast ended with the long-awaited announcement of the codename for the final twist in the Season 5 finale, which was voted on by viewers.

The Season 5 finale codename is…

(drumroll…)

“The Fork In the Outlet”

Darlton said that the twist refers to the very last scene from the finale, which is a huge secret and only known to the actors involved. The first runner up for the codename was “The Fifth Toe.” Second runner up was “The Hooded Leprechaun.”

It’s a got a nice ring to it, but I’m still jaded by the fact that it wasn’t made up by Damon and Carlton themselves. And the name reveals absolutely nothing, referring only to the fact that it’ll be a huge shock to viewers’ systems. But didn’t we already know that?

Whole thing leaves me feeling pretty… (shrug) meh.

I’d bet good money that “the fork in the outlet” is a Sawyer-ism. “Fork” being the donkey-wheel-thing and “outlet” being the mystery-power-that-moves-the-island-thing.
