In case you haven’t got enough incentive yet to go pick up Lost Season 5, here’s an extra reason for Blu-ray players: Lost University. LostU is a correspondence course (of sorts) to take a deeper look at the big scientific and philosophical ideas Lost has referenced throughout its series run.
All that’s needed to take part in LostU, which will regularly post new “classes” on a constant basis from now until Season 6 arrives (and possibly beyond), is Season 5 on Blu-ray, which just hit stores today (along with its DVD counterpart, which alas, isn’t capable of offering the LostU content). LostU is available via Blu-ray’s “BD-Live” option, which allows you to download extra content via the Internet on BD-Live capable players. It’s all sort of a clever way of refreshing viewers’ memories about the show’s complex plot before the final season, as well as deepening the overall experience for those who want to learn more about the ideas the show is based on.
I’ll have an overview of Day One of Lost University later on today after I’ve had time to review the first course materials for myself.
