LOST Season 5 spoiler round-up

Let’s take a quick look around the web for all the latest spoilers on Lost’s Season 5. There’s nothing big enough in these spoilers to ruin your enjoyment of the new season, but there are details given away that purists won’t want to know. Spoilers are after the jump!

Kristin Dos Santos of E! Online reveals that:

  • In the Season 5 premier episode, “Because You Left,” Desmond is seen in both the past and the present.
  • Ben helps Jack get off of his prescription meds.
  • Ben tells Jack that if he goes back to the island, he’ll never be able to leave it again.

Radar Online talks briefly with Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) about Season 5. It’s no revelation that Jin appears in Season 5; what’s still unknown is if he’s alive, a ghost, or only seen in the past. Kim told Radar that most of Season 5 has now been shot, and he’s yet to share a single scene with his on-screen wife, Yunjin Kim (Sun). Despite this, he says, “I can’t imagine it not happening,” alluding that the writers may be waiting until Season 6 or perhaps the finale of Season 5 for the married couple’s reunion. I think that sounds pretty brilliant; it will build up the anticipation all season for fans, and increase the drama for both characters, who (assuming Jin’s really alive) will each believe the other to be dead. What a moment when they see each other once more!

Zap2It spills these beans:

  • The first scene of the season premier is someone waking up to an alarm clock (sound familiar?) that reads 8:15.
  • Jin is glimpsed briefly in the first two hours, but no word on what capacity he’ll be seen in.
  • Three people die in the season premier, but none of them are main characters.
  • Jack and Kate are still not on good terms in the first two episodes, though Kate seems to contemplate calling Jack at one point.

Finally, io9 offers an uncharacteristically spoiler-free review of “Because You Left” and “The Lie,” the first two eps of Season 5. Among other things, they reveal, “we finally score some details about the secret behind the Island’s disappearing act. The skittish, bookish Daniel Faraday plays a key role in decoding this mystery, while we’re also given insight into the Dharma Initiative as well as Farraday’s own past and Desmond’s secret ability.”
