DocArzt was the first to break the news of the title of the season finale! Drumroll please…
The 2-hour Season 5 finale is called…
“The Incident”
That’s got to be a reference to the infamous Dharma “incident” referenced by Pierre Chang (aka “Marvin Candle”) in the Swan station orientation video. The Incident was the catastrophic event that led to the creation of the button that had to be pushed every 108 minutes to allow a constantly building “electromagnetic charge” to be discharged safely. It’s since been revealed that the Swan station was connected to a large reactor, so yeah… I’m thinking Jughead, the buried atomic bomb, is the lynchpin of the Incident. (If so, then what exactly happened when Desmond turned the failsafe key, destroying the Swan, and turning the sky purple?) Here’s the Swan orientation video:
Also, just to clarify the timeline… The castaways are currently in 1977, living as members of the Dharma Initiative. The “Incident” with the Swan station took place sometime prior to 1980, as that’s when the Swan’s orientation video was copyrighted. (The Purge — the final conflict between Dharma and the Others, which resulted in the massacre of everyone in the Dharma Initiative — took place much later, in 1992.)
So it seems like all these major Dharma-related plot points from this season (and past seasons) look to be coming together with this huge event at the end of Season 5.

That’s alright. It totally sounded like it could be for this year’s finale!
Yikes, you’re right! My apologies. Been dealing with a sick little boy today, so I wasn’t as thorough as usual.
The Emerson interview you’re linking is for the Season 4 finale. The date is May 2008.
